Wedding Ring Casting

I can honestly say that I have never had an experience quite like this afternoon when Dee and I cast our wedding rings.  Things are getting real.  We have been together for 13 years, had a small ceremony 11 years ago in Vegas and we have been “married” for a long time.    We are pretty much married, right?

Well, Dee asked and I said yes and two weeks from today we will make it legal.  It will be different, it really hit me today.  We are getting married!  There will be people, lots of people…there will be a ceremony where we have to walk down the aisle and talk…and it will be legal.  Wow.  Breathe.
So today we got to make the rings, hold the torch, melt the white gold and pull the finish product out of the water.  The process is fascinating (would go into detail, but I’m wiped out!) and the rings came out perfect.  We had family and friends there with us, too, which meant everything.  As a bonus, the kids got to flatten pennies and they put holes in them, polished them and carved their names in them and made bracelets.  Super cool.
