Question

So a fellow blogger, David Mcmahon (check him out at: http://david-mcmahon.blogspot.com/ for some cool photos and interesting news stories) asked the following question:

How efficiently (or inefficiently) would your household function without batteries?
If he had said electricity, I would have responded that our lives are highly dependent, we come to a stop at power outages since we have no heat, no light and no hot water. But as for batteries, I think we’d do ok. I would miss the camera and the cell phone, plain and simple and those are two things I would struggle without. We try to limit the number of the boy’s toys that are battery dependent mostly to cut down on the noise. They each have flashlights that they play with non-stop but since we got them the new, fancy flashlights that you crank to power, it doesn’t matter that they leave them on. No batteries to run down, just a little boy power to get it working again. Genius!
So, David, we’d get by….but our lives would be significantly changed without the pictures we treasure and the convenience of the cell phone.

  1. Tnak you for taking part, Kendra – and what a great choice of image to illustrate the post!I’m a bit like the Energizer bunny myself – I never run out of power.Yes, our household would have no cameras or cell phones or remote controls – but we’d get by just like our parents did before the gizmos were invented!!Do keep in touch …David
