Blew-It

We are so lucky to have friends like Alisa and Holly…we went over to their house tonight for dinner, always a pleasure. They are amazing cooks and the conversation and company couldn’t be better. The boys played and watched some shows while we played “Blew-It” (a dice game that also goes by the name Farkle”. So much fun and a nice way to wrap up the weekend. Can’t wait until it warms up a little and we can start doing out BBQs and camping at Fay Bainbridge again with them.

Yeah, Trey's Riding the Bus

We’ve been working really hard with Trey lately, trying to get him the services he needs through the school district. Guess what….he’s going to Wilkes now and is in Levi’s class! They both get on the bus in the mornings and Trey is super excited to be a big boy. He’s doing well in his new school and I think the more strict expectations are benefiting him for sure. He’s growing up fast!

Happy Valentine's Day

Dee and Carlos got up early on Valentine’s Day and went to Safeway to get some treats for breakfast and some candy and flowers for me! I was my night getting up with the baby so I was sleeping in a little, but Carlos couldn’t contain himself and came to wake me up around 7:15. It was sweet, though, he came in and said “mama, you have to wake up…we got you flowers and chocolate because it’s a special day” I got a great big hug and was more than happy to get up and see. Dee had coffee, too so my morning was complete. We had a perfect family breakfast, we ran a few errands and then Nana and Papa came over for another little celebration. Candy, candy, and more candy…the boys were in heaven. They were proud of the Valentine’s they had made and Nana and Papa loved them.
Our friends, Katy and Collin came over for dinner with their crew and the kids all did a terrific job playing while we hung out and chatted. We truly enjoy their company and the kids get along so well it really works. Good times and all in all a great day.

Blur of a Weekend

So this weekend cruised by and I can’t believe it’s Monday yet again. We got to have coffee on Saturday morning with Godma Ann and Mary, drove out to get the baby, took Levi to a birthday party and came home in time to chill out with the boys and have Movie Night, popcorn and all.
Sunday was our long standing coffee date with Margaret, Todd and even Peggy came this time! We’ve missed seeing her for sure, hoping she’ll start floating the boat and coming to coffee again more. Katy and Sophie came down and we all walked down to Winslow for the Chinese New Year parade and festivities. They lit off fireworks, the parade was short and sweet but the kids all loved the dragon. Nana and Papa had offered to watch the boys (and have movie night with them) while Dee and I met up with Ann to see “He’s Just Not That Into You”. It was predictable but good. We needed a mindless type movie just to relax in. Picked up the boys, got them ready for bed and Dee and I both looked at eachother and wondered where our weekend had gone. That was a fast one.

The Little Bitty One

We’ve got a sweet baby girl for respite care right now. She’s a cutie and reminds me quite a bit of Carlos as a newborn. Can’t say I miss the diapers…whew, they are nasty! She has got some CRAZY hair. Love that she’s a snuggler, too. We’ll have fun with her this week for sure.
Like always, if you’re itching for baby time you know where to find us! Can’t post any pictures or go into more detail, you know the drill.

Octopus Blind Date????

This ad was in the Aquarium Member’s Newsletter and I made me laugh out loud. Not sure I want to field the questions after this demo:

Octopus Blind Date on Saturday, 2/14 at noon. Witness what happens when sixteen arms, six hearts (three each!) and two giant Pacific octopuses meet on Valentine’s Day. Aquarium biologists set the mood with decorative hearts, roses and romantic music at the Octopus Exhibit. But it’s up to the octopuses to decide whether or not love is in the water!

Moonlight Beach Walk

We had the best time last night on a moonlight beach walk at Fort Ward State Park. Our friends, Melissa and Bill came over for pizza before the walk, along with their kids Joe, Jessica and the foster baby we did respite care for a couple of weeks ago. It was great to see him again, he’s adorable! Our boys just LOVE Joe, he’s a middle schooler and keeps them busy with piggy back rides and rough housing. Trey calls him “my guy” and always wants to be with him while he’s here. We had a great meal and conversation and headed out to the beach.
The moonlight was so bright you almost didn’t need a flashlight! There were a lot of people and lots of naturalists to tag along with groups to show them the things that they saw in the low tide pools. Carlos found a LOT of starfish, Levi was into the crabs and Trey just wanted to be with his guy.
So much fun! Who knew the beach in the dark could be so much fun. We now feel confident to lead our own little groups at our beach, let us know if you are interested.

Oh….we get a 1 month old today that will be with us for a week. Baby time…and a girl to boot, that is rare for us! 🙂

Halftime Show in 3D?

What a crock…we got the 3D glasses, we amped the boys up to watch it and then it was over in about 2 minutes and there weren’t that many things jumping out of the screen at us. LAME. We got some cute pics out of it, I guess.
Great game to watch, loved the Steelers victory (I’ve been a fan since I was a kid) but more important it wasn’t a boring blowout.
