We got some really tough news today…seems there is a question as to whether the adoption will actually happen on Friday. Biodad has filed yet another piece of paperwork that nobody thought he was going to file. Shocking to say the least. SO, now we wait. We will find out Monday morning whether or not the adoption will happen as planned on Friday. We will keep everyone posted. The adoption will happen, the question is just when.

We’ve got an 8 month old girl coming to stay with us for the weekend so that should keep us busy and our minds off of Levi’s case a little.

Congratulations

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED the 1930’s 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s !! First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant. They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can, and didn’t get tested for diabetes. Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in babycribs covered with bright colored lead-based paints. We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitch hiking. As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, boosterseats, seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a pick up on a warm day was always a special treat. We drank water from the garden hose and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this. We ate cupcakes, white bread and real butter and drank koolade made with sugar, but we weren’t overweight because . WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING! We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on. No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K. We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem. We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD’s, no surround-sound, CD’s or Ipods, no cell phones!, no personal computers ,no Internet or chat rooms……. WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them! We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents. We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever. We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not put out very many eyes. We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them! Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever! The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL! If YOU are one of them . . CONGRATULATIONS!

We got Cars! I bought a bunch of qualifying groceries at Albertsons and got the movie FREE!! Yippee, the boys are so excited and I am getting tired of Curious George and Over the Hedge so and new movie is always good. Especially with this rain!

We’ve been surviving and trying to stay warm and dry. I’ve got a killer cough that has been keeping me up at night, what a drag. Thought I had it beat, but it’s back…damn. Lots of juice and water and trying to get some sleep. Hard with the boys, though, that’s for sure.

Only 10 more days until the adoption!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a rainy, grey day it’s been….wow. First day in awhile without a glimpse of sunshine. Kinda depressing but oh so Seattle in the winter. I don’t mind it so much, it’s just funny to think about how I was as a kid in a storm. I’ve always loved them! Now I still love the storm, bring on the thunder and lightning…but pray now that the power will stay on (as a kid I loved the power outages) and that the kids won’t get scared and cry. For the most part storms are good still, we play them up as not scary and a cool experience to light candles and play with flashlights.

Took the boys to see Santa Clause 3 with Nana this afternoon. Trey slept through most of it, Carlos and Levi liked it. Didn’t hold their attention like animated movies do but they enjoyed it. Who doesn’t love popcorn and candy, doesn’t matter what movie’s playing?!
Came home and goofed around wrestling on the floor and took some pics! Glad to get an updated version of the picture of all three lying on the floor, it’ll be something we do lots and how their aging I think.
Oh yeah, and like the laundry picture? That’s typical every 2-3 days worth…4 loads. Seriously, it never ends!!!!

This is funny. Go to www.google.com and type in your name and the word ‘needs’ after it, e.g. “Bob needs”. Write down the description of the first website that appears.

Here’s what came up for mine….
Kendra needs a little more experience working with people because she is not very good at dealing with those she works with.
Kendra needs a family who will give her lots of love and attention.
Kendra needs some serious leadership classes.

It’s just mindless and funny….give it a try!

Ok, busy weekend and lots of laundry to fold!

Carlos – “Old Macdonald had a farm Eeeeeee-Eeeeee-Oh, pig, Eeeeee-Eeeeeee-Oh”

Trey – (as lous as possible) “PIG! E-E-E-I-O”

Meet our new addition…OZZY the hamster. Don’t really know what inspired us to get him, but he’s pretty cool and the boys are in awe of him. He’s a cute little guy and very active. Don’t think the boys will be holding him but sure sure do love watching him run around his cage and spin on his wheel.

We signed the adoption papers for Levi today at our lawyers, what a great feeling. The adoption is all set for November 17th and we are now planning for the party on Sunday, November 19th. This is a change, requested by friends due to the Apple Cup game.

Another Halloween come and gone…whew! The boys are finally in bed and almost asleep.

It was great fun today. Started off with Levi’s preschool party where the kids did games, made necklaces and created some super sugary but yummy cookies. He liked having me there to see his school, it made it pretty special.

We got the boys dressed up in their costumes and headed to downtown Winslow for trick or treating. It was hectic, but fun to see all the kids dressed up.

We hit a few of our friend’s places to trick or treat and show off the guys and then came home to get the blue out of their hair and head to bed. All in all a good Halloween!

Got the pictures from pumpkin carving last night…cool. The boys loved it, but thought it was cold inside the pumpkins. They were right!
Dee’s got the playroom almost done (painting) and I can’t wait to put it back together and get the “Cars” theme in it and let the boys see it. They are going to go nuts.
Tomorrow’s a HUGE day, hoping the boys sleep tonight so they can stay out a little later than normal tomorrow for trick-or-treating.
Off to volleyball!

Here are the pictures from the fancy ponyland shoot. Like I said, the kids didn’t cooperate but they turned out cute. Lorna is going to crop them to use for her line of kids clothes, so don’t mind us in the background.

Today was awful but ended up well….we got up and got the kids ready for church, headed down there and church was apparently cancelled. We decided to go to T&C to get a coffee, only to realize that I didn’t have my purse so we only had $10 between the two of us. We didn’t get the coffees, but did find out that church wasn’t cancelled but that we were an hour early. HOLY COW! We waited the hour, went to church and that turned out to be a mistake as well. Both Carlos and Trey were having meltdowns in the nursery and they ended up sitting with us through the service. It was rough.

The boy’s Godmother, Ann, came by with coffees (yeah!) and some Halloween pez for the guys, they were so excited to see her and so were mamas.

We missed Carlos’ friend’s birthday party because the boys were acting up and I just couldn’t even dream of taking them somewhere besides their beds. They napped and got ready for dinner with Nana and Papa.

Like I said, the day ended well with a nice dinner with my folks and s0me pumpkin carving. The boys went to bed easily and I got caught up on laundry while Dee started painting the playroom.

Busy week with Halloween on Tuesday and we get to go sign the adoption papers on Wednesday!!!!! We haven’t done any party planning yet, figured we’d get through Halloween first and then go from there.
