The Cold

I think I’m coming down with “the cold” that the family has been battling. What a drag. With all of the things we like to do and the weekend coming up I am hoping I can take it easy today and not get the full blown version of it.

Here’s a picture of the ad for “Fancypony Land Clothing” by Lorna Leedy. I think you’ll recognize the boys and Alice in the pictures. If you want to see a bigger image or find out more about Lorna’s fashions (Salma Hayek is a fan) you can go to http://www.fancyponyland.com/collections/kids/collections_kids.html
She’s also having a trunk sale in December if anyone is interested, feel free to ask.
Off to start lunch for Alice, Trey and Jefferson then go pick up Levi and Carlos and drop off Alice at school. Mama’s taxi, that’s me.

Costumes Anyone?

We dug through the Halloween bins today and the boys had fun trying on wigs and masks. We also found a funny spider that we’ve had for years that makes a crazy buzzing sound while it vibrates when you engage it. I was amazed when Levi told me right where to hang it, same spot as last year. He has a great memory. We also got out some Halloween flashlights and glow sticks, so the boys went into their bedroom to play. Kind of like the light saber fights in Star Wars, toddler style. Levi and Carlos were playing nice until Trey came in for the kill. Typical at our place, one of them always has to tick the other two off.

Interesting fact that you might not know about our family….every night before the boys get tucked into bed, the boys have decided that they need to kiss our legs and noses. Seems submissive, but it’s not like that, just showing some love.

Friday Night Lights

Took the “big” boys to the BHS Homecoming game last night, see first pictures above. They looked “cool” and were having a brotherly love moment. It’s happening more and more with Levi and Carlos, very sweet. Anyhow, they love football games, all the sounds, the crowds, the cheerleaders oh and the game was kind of in the background. Mary and Alice joined us and we got to sit by our friend, Millie and her son, Trent. It was great to catch up with her.

Today started out with some book reading and then the 4 boys and I took off for Costco while Dee did some work on our living room ceiling. The boys were pretty good, we got some errands done and Dee did a beautiful job with the ceiling, it’s almost ready for paint. As you can tell, they were beat when they got home. Trey crashed on the floor and Baby passed out holding his bottle. Rough day of shopping. I did get an amazing deal at JC Penney on some shirts. Ten shirts for $5.21…and I saved $180.11. Imagine that! Some days you hit the clearance rack jackpot!

New Addition

Baby #20 is here…at least until Tuesday. We are doing respite care for Baby, 2 months old, and he’s sweet. He smiles a LOT and coos and giggles, too. It’s fun to have a 2 month old again, much more interactive than the newborns. The boys are loving the baby time again, they always do.

We’ve got Levi’s conference this morning and Carolyn is going to watch the wee-beasties for a bit. Besides the boys being pirates and getting in trouble on Monday I think they are doing pretty well at school. Guess we’ll find out in a couple of hours.

A New Start

Dee and I have started our new workout regime. Day 1 and we’re still going strong! Dee gets up in the morning, goes on the treadmill then comes in to wake me up, I get on the treadmill while she showers. The only downfall will be if she decides not to get up when the alarm goes off. I can be honest here in saying that I HATE the treadmill, it’s boring but does it’s job. Now we’re on the lookout for a little tv that we can put on a shelf in front of it so we can watch the news while we work out. That would help. Radio/music just doesn’t cut it as I’m a total visual person. If you have a little tv you are wanting to get rid of, talk to me.

No school for the boys the rest of the week, who knows what we’ll do to stay busy. Speech tomorrow in Silverdale so we may spend some time goofing around and shopping beforehand. The boys can get some playtime in the playstructure at the mall and burn off some energy and I can have some retail therapy!

Time to get ready for dinner out with our dear friend, Mary Jones!

We’ve got a baby coming for respite care on Thursday, we’ll get some pics up.

Home Again, Home Again Jiggity Jig

That’s what my mom would always say when we got home from a trip…don’t know where it came from, but it stuck!

What a FUN, FUN weekend! Lots of pictures to post (sorry, you guys are probably getting tired of seeing our mugs…but there were some good ones). We got to have some nice visiting time with the Brehm family and the Natalis as well, they ended up being in the other half of our house so that was cool. We opened the doors between the two a few times and the kids went back and forth and Hannah came over to visit us.

Friday night the boys got some time on the beach, and we had a nice dinner with all of the wedding guests. It got a little cool for us all and we headed back to the house. Levi was so funny, we asked “are we going to the hotel or the little house or our house?” Poor kid has been on the go so much lately he doesn’t even know where we’re sleeping. We are such home-bodies this is quite the change for the guys.

Saturday we went to Beth and Bert’s house for a continental breakfast, hung out there for awhile then went into town to do a little shopping and grab a bite to eat. We took the kids to explore the bunkers and the beach, then came back to nap before the wedding. The boys got all decked out and we braved the whipping winds on our walk to the wedding/reception. It was a beautiful ceremony. Poor Dee missed the whole ceremony, though, because Trey decided to have a hemmorage right as the music started. Arrgh. Trey does not do weddings. Anyhow, we love Rachel and Michael is a cool guy. They are both so happy together and we wish them all the best in their new lives together. Oh, and we’ve got some party boys on our hands…they were SO excited to dance after the wedding and didn’t want to come off the dance floor. Trey only wanted to dance with the bride. Smart boy.

Got them back to bed around 10 and woke up this morning, packed and said our goodbyes. It’s tough to leave knowing we won’t see everyone for awhile but they are dear, dear friends and we are so happy when we do see them.

Off to get the boys a bite to eat and a nap…they are crabby!!! I think you’ll especially like the family self-portrait (and the cool pic of Levi and Carlos last night with their new flashlights).

And We're Off Again

We’re heading off to Rachel Brehm’s wedding! YIPPEE! Seems like we just got home, just got unpacked and just got the house kind of in order and now I’m pulling out more clothes, packing up bags and getting ready to go again.

Should be an incredibly fun weekend in Port Townsend. Who doesn’t love Port Townsend? And spending a weekend with the Brehm clan and a few friends from Clipper should be great. It’s a guaranteed good time!

We got to hang out with Nana and Papa last night, the boys heard lots of stories (we checked out a bunch of pirate books at the library and they can’t seem to get enough of them) and Nana made a wonderful dinner. It’s such a treat not to have to cook. Trey did his usually “grip and scream about there being no carbs” and he left the table. He didn’t eat much breakfast this morning either so maybe his body just needs a break from growing so big so fast. He’d eat carbs 24/7 if we let him, though, that’s not a good thing for a big boy!

Ok, off to let the kids run around outside while we still have a day left of not pouring down rain. Goodbye summer.

Also, a few more pictures from the beach.

Home for a Short Stay

So we got back in time this afternoon to get a couple loads of laundry done, let the boys play with their toys (they didn’t have any toys for 4 days!) and upload a ton of pictures….if you want to see them, check the previous post.

The boys favorite thing about our hotel room at the Shilo? A phone and television in the bathroom. They were amazed and each time they went in to use the potty, the tv would go on first. Forget the potty-tv, Dee and I liked the king sized bed and the extra pull out sofa. Lots of sleeping room for us all.

The conference was good, I’m totally excited about making lifebooks for foster kids. We had fun networking with foster parents from all over the state as well as social workers. We were also very lucky and won a pair of Seahawks tickets and cool sports and kitchen items baskets. Oh, and got Zoo Tycoon 2 and a bunch of expansion packs for our computer. We were lucky, lucky, lucky.

Ok, go look at the pictures!

At the Conference

Ok ladies (and gents),
As you know, I’m at a foster parent conference this week and I just took a class on “life books”. The ones we made were REALLY simple (a 99 cent little photo album with very simply scrapbooked pages that a foster parent can add photos to and send with the child).
In this, I had a revelation….maybe some of our friends/family are into scrapbooking and would want to make/donate some of these to local foster parents. I would be more than willing to get them to foster kids. In the community we are in, it’s sometimes hard to remember that there are some kids out there with very few pictures of themselves and something like this could mean the world to a child.
Just thought I’d throw it out there, let me know if you are interested. I am planning on making some myself to send with our babies, as well as ones geared toward older kids to donate. If you wanna come hang out with me and do some, let’s do it! Like I said, they are super easy and only end up costing about $2 to make.
