Anyone in the market for 14 pairs of boy’s shoes!? I’d even ship them to you at the REAL postal rate! Here’s the Craigslist ad (http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/bab/525582849.html). Anyhow, I’m embarassed at the number of pairs of shoes our boys had…had is the key word. We spent 2 hours trying on shoes and getting rid of pairs they never wear. It’s basically a twice annual ordeal. We make it as fun as we can, but how fun is trying on a bazillion pairs of shoes!? Good news…Carlos is now in a 7 1/2 (insert wild applause), Levi is a solid 9 and Trey is, well, a 2 year old wearing a size 10 1/2. The kid’s got Fred Flintstone feet!

Levi and Carlos kept busy and discovered that Levi can actually lift and carry Carlos across the room. How fun is that!? Trey (don’t comment on the Princess pull-ups…you use what you have!) and Dee got some snuggle time in in between pairs of shoes. We’ve got it down to about 6 pairs per kid, not counting Crocs and boots. That’s REALLY good for me. I think I may be needing to hit some stores tomorrow to check out their clearance shoes……

Tackle It Tuesday

Tackle It Tuesday Meme

So I’m going to start “Tackle It Tuesday” which came from another blogging mom. It’s to get a project done that you’ve been meaning to do…get organized…and making Tuesday your completion day.

Today I’m counting making this to do list as part of my goal. On the list: organize freezer, deal with my closet, sort out clothes in the boy’s drawers, Dee’s closet and finally the shed.

I’ll feel good to get some of these long time disorganized places into shape!

Happy New Year!

The weather here has been beautiful, so we took advantage of it and took the boys down to the beach. The boys just love going and turning over rocks to find little crabs. The mini ones pose no threat so they will hold them, but once they get to be about 2 inches long they won’t come close to them for fear of being pinched. Dee turned over some HUGE rocks (Hercules! Hercules!) that had a bazillion crabs underneath and one even had two 4 inch long fish. It was nice family time, we are lucky to live where we can just walk down the hill and enjoy the beach.
Alisa and Holly came over to celebrate New Years with us last night. We had some drinks and some munchies and played the Wii. We adore them and they are those friends you just “click” with right off. So in the picture of Alisa and Dee “bowling” you will notice Alisa’s pant leg is wet. Seriously, every time she comes here she spills her wine. It’s too funny. We had the best time playing the Wii, if you don’t know how it works you need to try it. When you bowl, you really bowl with the remote. It’s all sensors that track your movements. I am so glad we bought it. It’s quite the workout, too. Dee and I rented Madden football to play and are kind of getting it down.
Poor Carlos was having a rough time getting to sleep and was fussing and crying. He ended up throwing up and it was emotional so we had him sleep on our shoulder in the living room to keep him close. Alisa and Holly took off, Dee and I played a little more Wii and rang in the New Year out on the front porch wrapped in blankets, watching the Space Needle fireworks.
Happy New Year everyone, looking forward to 2008 and what adventures it will bring.

More than a Cough

Like Trey’s new bracelet? It’s what you get when you have to go to the ER! Not my plan for the day, but after he woke up from his nap he was wheezing and sounding horrendous. I called the Children’s Hospital hotline and they said that was typical with croup and to spend 20 minutes in a steamy bathroom (all the boys loved that) and if that didn’t work to head outside for 20 minutes. Yeah, I took the boys down to the beach for some cool air for Trey and on the way back up the hill he was sounding REALLY bad. We didn’t even take shoes off, I dropped the other boys with Dee and headed to the ER. After waiting, and waiting and waiting some more we were taken to a room to have a “chilled air” breathing treatment and wait some more. Trey was a trooper and we got him some meds and he’s doing much better.
While I was at the ER, Dee put on a nice dinner for my parents. I had put a roast in the slow cooker and she made mashed potatoes and homemade gravy and ice cream. She’s a keeper!
Carlos is sounding bad now…fingers crossed that we don’t have to make another trip to the ER.

So Sad

Someone had told me that all the pictures of the kids look so happy. Believe me, they aren’t always smiles and giggles but we are usually trying to put out a fire somewhere and can’t get to the camera to get pictures of those moments.

But don’t let this video fool you….Trey had just finished attacking Carlos, pouring juice on his head and slapping him. Bad target to pick, Trey…Carlos fights back. You’ll also hear the lovely barking cough that we have going on, can anyone say croup?

Is “vacation” over yet?

Carlos and Changes

If you know Carlos, you know he does NOT like change. Period. From pictures he seems like a smiling, happy go lucky type kid and sometimes he is. That is if things are going “as planned”. Today was supposed to be speech with “B” (since Julia is on vacation) and we got Carlos all ready for that change. Since he loved “B” it was good, but we got a call first thing that “B” was out sick for the day and wondered if Carlos might want to see another therapist. Uh, yeah, no. Like I said, he’s not good with change. I talked to him and told him that “B” was sick and that he could either miss speech or try someone new for today and he completely floored me and said, “I think I would like to try that” Worked out great for me because Dee got me a gift card to Old Navy and I wanted to shop!
Dee stayed with the kids and I took Carlos to speech. He hesitated to go back with the new speech lady at first, but then did ok. This is a positive step!

Oh, and did I mention that my sweetie bought me diamonds!!? Yup, got them today, beautiful new earrings. Thanks Dee!

It’s my night to get up with “Baby X” and 4am comes early. Just wasted 2 hours of my life watching Final Destination 3…talk about blood and gore. Off to bed.

Tomorrow we get to go to Home Depot to look for shelving for the basement and then to the Evil Empire for Christmas bargains. WOO HOO!

Cuteness

The boys got matching Adidas outfits (sorry, Dee). Actually they all have a different shirt underneath, but the pants and sweatshirts are the same. I know they aren’t triplets but don’t they look too stinkin cute?!
“Baby X” is back for a respite stay with us. He’s fun to have around, Carlos especially loves him and is always trying to make him giggle or helping with making his bottles.
Had family dinner tonight with Mary and Alice and Alisa and Holly. Mary brought some tasty ribs and we made up some ice cream in my new ice cream maker. Can’t wait to make some more, it was simple. We can also make daquiris in it. Modern technology…sweet!
Tomorrow is speech for Carlos, he gets to see “B” again, we’ll see how that goes. He’s excited to see her for sure, he just loves her. I’ll keep you posted.
