Kiss Attack!

Trey and I bombarded Carlos and planted a million kisses on him. Looks like he hated it, right? Great picture!
Carlos has been doing lots of art these days, and he just learned how to write “Dee” and his “K” looks like an “X” but that’s ok. He signs his name and writes ours. It’s sweet. The first picture is me and Dee and a bumble bee, the second a raging mad T-Rex!
Abbie got a new dog bed, she’s a happy dog. Seriously fat, but happy. Maybe if everyone who walked by and the mailman stopped giving her treats she could lose some weight.

OUCH! That Hurt

What a day! We dropped Levi and Carlos at school and went to KiDiMu this morning. They had a special talk on airplanes with a pilot and flight attendant. The kids liked that. They did some recycled art and we headed off to pick up the big boys and drop Alice at her school.
Got a call this afternoon from Baby X’s foster parents and they are back from their trip. So, they came and picked him up. It worked out well since it’s laundry day and all and it only took me a short time to get him all packed up. They were very excited to see him. It was interesting, and flattering, though when he reached out to me and wanted me to hold him over his foster mom. The baby’s been with us for 3 1/2 weeks so it only makes sense that he got bonded. He will be missed, I loved his goofy grin, but it’s a relief as well as the timing is just bad to have an extra baby.
Took Levi into the doctor’s to figure out why he is scratching the bejesus out of his back. Apparently this winter weather just has the poor boy’s skin seriously dry. So, he got a prescription for some allergy meds and wait, that wasn’t it…the doctor thought it would be good to get a couple of his shots out of the way. Lucky Carlos, who just had to come along to be with Mama K…he got a shot, too. I’m guessing next time he’ll choose to stay at home. It was awful but at least it’s out of the way.
Looking forward to tomorrow, some time alone with Trey in the morning then it’s off to Silverdale for the longest day of our week. A fun one, though!

Happy Earth Day

Here’s a not so often view of our house…thanks Minda! They caught me on a “just mowed” day so the field is looking nice. It’s a tad overgrown at this point, it’s been a few weeks since we got out there and took care of business. I actually tried yesterday, but the dang mower had a dead battery again and I wasn’t about to push mow 5 acres. In the top right of the picture you can actually see our garden and at the bottom is the path down to the beach, sweet.
It’s Earth Day and we are planning on making some painted ladybug rocks and recycled toothbrush bracelets with the boys. We’ll see how it actually turns out, but I have high hopes! The guys always like a project and it’s been awhile since we painted rocks. Always a hit.
Dee’s still working crazy-long hours, leaving the house early, coming home for a quick bite to eat and heading back out for a couple hours. The boys don’t understand it but it’s only for a couple more weeks. Poor Dee!
Levi’s going in to a doctor’s appt today because he’s been itching and itching and itching his whole body. With his asthma, I’m guessing he’s got some allergy going on so I also set up an allery panel to be done on him in May. That should be a fun day for sure. Hoping the doctor’s appt today can at least get him some relief and then we’ll deal with the cause. The odd part about it is that we haven’t changed laundry soap, regular soap or our diets…not sure what’s causing it.

Snow in April?

Started the day out lazy, Dee finished up her book and Trey played with Baby X. I ran to the store with Carlos and Levi slept in. When Carlos and I got home it started to hail, a LOT and for about 10 minutes. Then it turned to snow, for almost an hour. It was wet, and not a ton of it but the boys had fun playing outside and catching it on their tongues. Came in and warmed up in a steaming bath. Like Carlos’ new necklace? Twenty five cents at Safeway and he won’t take it off.
Trey went down for a nap while met up with Mary and Alice with the big boys to see Nim’s Island. It was good, a couple of scary parts but it had adventure, action and silly animals and all that a boy could want out of a movie.
The boys are now off to Godma Ann’s for pizza dinner and chocolate chip cookie making! Dee and I are getting spoiled…two nights in a row with only Baby X to deal with? Tomorrow will be back to normal, it’s a 7 kid day for me.

Howling at the Full Moon

The boys have been CRAZY today…I think it’s because of the full moon. Plus, Dee was still home at breakfast time this morning so it wasn’t our usual routine. She left for work and they went wild. We did some art, made some thank you cards and ran a couple of errands. Then they got to go to a friend’s birthday party at the gymnastics room and they loved that. Lots of swinging and running and tumbling and jumping.

Dee got home, we changed clothes, fed Baby X and headed out to drop the boys at Saturday Club. We LOVE this 5 hour break once a month! Dee and I took Baby X and headed to Silverdale to do some shopping for Levi and Carlos’ upcoming birthdays. Found some great stuff, so much easier to shop when they weren’t there. No more lies that what we buy is for their cousin, Luca. Eventually they are going to catch on to that lie.

This little video is Carlos coming in to give a goodnight hug. No sweet little peck on the cheek for our boys, it’s a running, sprawling, jumping hug. That’s just how we roll here!

Just Plugging Along

Skies were gloomy this morning, but with the sun shining behind our flag. The grey skies were followed up this evening with some rain mixed with snow! April snow? Crazy for sure.

So things have been hectic here. Dee just found out that her big job deadline has been bumped up about 2 weeks so we’ll not be seeing much of her for the next couple of weeks. That along with adding little Baby X and my parents being out of town, my life is basically going to bite for a couple of weeks. I’m going to try to stay sane, that’s the goal.

Wednesday I had to kill 6 hours in Silverdale after speech until the Foster Parent Dinner. That is some good times with 4 kids, ages 4, 3, 2 and 1. We went to Chuck E. Cheese for a bit, to the mall to play and we were all completely fried by the time dinner rolled around. Dee came and took all but Carlos (he wanted to stay with me) home and I finished up at the meeting.
Thursday was MNMs and I always look forward to that. It was truly sad, though, since Bev (the heart and soul of the group) announced that she’s leaving. I’ve known her for a long, long time and she has a great way about her that is grounding and inspiring and she’s one of the reasons I go. It was a great meeting, but sad, sad, sad. The boys got to go to a dinosaur play at BPA with Grammy Kathy (Alice’s grandma), Mary and Alice. Dee and I got a little break and went across the street to San Carlos for a quick drink with some MNMs moms. It’s MNMs (Mothers Nurturing Mothers) and every so often it’s MNMs (Mothers Nursing Margaritas).

Boys had aikido today then we took off to do some shopping. Still trying to get ideas for Levi and Carlos’ birthdays. Just for fun, I bought some cool glow in the dark planets and a glowing moon that goes through it’s phases. It’ll be a great night light in the boy’s room. Levi and Trey “helped” us put them up and were really interested in all the planets. It’s funny, even as grown adults Dee and I cracked up when we hung up the planet Uranus. We’re idiots, I know, but it was funny when I was 8 and it’s still gives me a chuckle today!

Carlos must not have been feeling good because he fell asleep on the car ride home, didn’t want to get up for dinner and went right back to bed. Shopping is tough work!
Gotta run…Carlos just stumbled out of the bedroom and he’s got a little fever going on. Poor little guy!

Back To Good?

Mary is the star of the blog today…she cut all the boy’s hair last night. They look so handsome! Don’t let Trey’s tears fool you, it wasn’t about the haircut it was about him not getting “tea party” (aka dessert) because he didn’t eat his dinner. Bummer, dude.
Update on my back…it’s still hurting but managable without a bunch of meds. I actually did laundry today, so yes, things are about back to normal. It still feels like it’s tweeked, though.
Pretty regular day today, so not much to report. We did the preschool pickups and drop offs and the boys took naps and played outside. Oh, and we went to the kid’s museum and library. At the library we found Muppets Treasure Island and the kids were loving the muppets. They had never seen them and thought they were pretty cool. Me too, a little blast from the past.

Some Pictures

Bad back still…here are some pictures from the last few days. Not on the computer much since sitting is not my friend. If you need us, call us!

The kids had a great time making letters with their bodies, here are Z and E.

Still Broken

Spent the day gorked out on pain meds and muscle relaxers. Not so fun. Today seems worse than yesterday, with a brief “feel better” period in the middle of the day and now back to “when are the meds going to kick in”
This is the first time I’ve sat in my chair and checked mail, I think that’s a first in a long, long time!
Fingers, toes and all crossed that tomorrow I’ll wake up “normal”. Poor Dee has got the brunt of the work, as I havent been able to take the laundry down in a couple days and it’s tough to pick up the baby. I’m doing all I can, but that’s limited for sure. Think we’ll end up ordering pizzas until all’s better, as cooking doesn’t work so well with Dee taking care of the 4 boys and me being just about useless. I hate this feeling!
Meds are kicking in so it’s almost time for bed.

Broke Back Kendra

Not sure how it happened, but it’s making me crazy. Threw out my back and am seriously crabby. My poor boys! The meds I have help but they basically knock me out so that’s not a great option with a houseful of children. Looking forward to bedtime so I can take more meds and not worry about the naughtinesses painting Baby X blue or anything. I’m sure it’ll be better in the morning.
At some point working today, Dee smashed her thumb with her drill. So, her nail looks BAD and she’s crabby, too. Aren’t we a fun pair? I bet the boys can’t wait until bedtime to get away from us.
Good news…I got the seatbelt extenders from Toyota and now our booster seat buckling problems are solved. Levi and Alice can actually find the seatbelt buckle and get themselves buckled without any drama. My life has improved.
We had a great lunch with Godma Ann today, it’s always nice to visit with her. She’s one of those people I truly enjoy spending time with.
