Diggin Clams and Schucking Oysters

All of our efforts may have been in vain…we’ll find out tomorrow morning if we have to pitch our clams and oysters that we dug/schucked today at Quilcene. There was nothing on the hotline but online it says there may be a biohazard (aka red tide) and that would really bite. We worked hard to get our limits. Either way , it was a fun family outing. The boys kept busy picking out clams and stomping in the water. Then they chased baby crabs around and stacked up oysters in an old tire. When we were done we were all smelly, muddy and happy.
Decided it would be a good night to clean out the van…the carseats all got taken apart and washed, the van is vacuumed and smelling nice and all will be back to good tomorrow. It’s a big job, but truly makes a difference when it’s done. So come for a ride with me in the clean van!

We Love Campfires

A perfect evening with friends tonight. Holly BBQed some amazing veggies and chicken and we hung out by the campfire and made s’mores. Don’t be calling CPS for the picture of Trey…it was rootbeer, y’all! I’m beat and heading for bed early. I will truly appreciate my own bed tonight.

Camping: Days 2 & 3

The adventure continued….we enjoyed the warmth of the sunshine and splashed around on the beach. Carlos found a cool clam shell, we squirted some anemones and Trey fell in the water.

It was really nice to have some family time with no tv, no running errands, no interruptions. We played some games and built some Home Depot wooden trucks that we’d been meaning to build. They are very proud and can’t wait to paint them and play with them. The hit of the weekend was their Tonka trucks. They raced around camp with them, it was pretty cool to watch. Trey and Caros got into a tiff and Trey got pushed into a wooden sign and got a lovely black eye. He looks like a prize fighter, on the losing end of the fight.
On a funny note, the boys were ecstatic that a chipmunk came into our camp. We put some chips and bread out and it came back over and over again and took it up to hide in the tree.

Camping: Day 1

Here are some pictures from camping this weekend. Nana and Papa joined us for a gourmet feast of hot dogs and potato salad down at the campsite last night. The boys thought it was cool to cook their dinner over the fire but I have to admit I was a tad bit nervous with them toting around the metal roasting sticks. No injuries, perfectly done dogs and then yummy s’mores to finish it all off.

Trey was losing it as it got darker so Nana and Papa took him to their house to have a sleepover. That worked out perfect for all.

We’re home for a couple hours to get naps in and view our portraits from last weekend….then back to the dirt and campfire!

It's Heeeeeeeere!

Tonight’s the night and we’re going to be there! I’ve been waiting and waiting for the new Indiana Jones movie to come out. I’m a huge fan, so much so I thought we should have named one of the boys “Indy” but I didn’t want people to think it was in homage to my corn-fed beef ancestors. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, just doesn’t seem as cool. Anyhow, Carolyn is going to watch the boys so we can go!

Busy weekend….I’ll write more later but here are a few shots. We did family portraits on Saturday (can’t wait to see how those turn out) and bummed around on Sunday. Got a new tent for the big camping weekend! I got to go to the Island School auction and watch people spend staggering amounts of money for their kid’s artwork. The pieces are truly priceless, the prices are just SO far out of any range for me. I felt good, though, I did my annual financial aid donation and $10 piece of fudge (it’s a raffle for a spectacular night out in Seattle).
