Concerts in the Park

It’s that time again…summer time around here means Wednesday night concerts in the park. We love it, the kids get to dance and play and have dinner in the park, too, which is a treat. Tonight was a percussion group that did some amazing things with instruments. Nana and Papa brought their dinner, too and Carlos begged a ton of bites from them. Levi played with his friend, Aidan, and Trey found himself a little girlfriend and spent most the time dancing with her. Trey is a dancing machine and will move his body whenever he hears a good beat. It is too damn cute.
All in all a wonderful night and we look forward to many, many more.

So after swimming lessons yesterday my mom and I rushed to get the boys dressed. Of course, Carlos had to stop and pee and the others took their time to get dressed. We made it down to the ferry 1 minute before the boat was supposed to leave and we missed it by 2 seconds. It all worked out, we ate our packed lunches on the boat and by the time we got to Children’s for Carlos’ appt we were there in perfect time. It’s amazing how they have things set up, they even had a sibling playroom so that Levi and Trey weren’t bored during the appt.
We were at Children’s for Carlos’ swallowing issues (he basically won’t do mushy things) and basically it turned into a discussion about his sleeping. His tonsils are swollen on one side, but that COULD be normal. We are going to set up a sleep study for him to see if he may have sleep apnea. The concern with kids and sleep apnea is that they are never rested and it can make them more active, less able to focus and have behavior issues. Wouldn’t it be amazing if this were his issue….and it could be fixed!?!?! We’ll see how it all goes and keep you all posted. It makes me nervous and anxious, but I know he’s a tough little guy and will step up and do great.

All Comers Track Meet

So we did something new and fun tonight. Bainbridge has an “All Comers Track Meet” every Monday night in the summers. There were lots of kids running each event. The guys were all excited to run, but also tired from swimming lessons earlier in the morning. They each did their heat of the 50 yard dash and the 100 yard dash and did alright. Surprisingly, Trey finished 4th in his heat and Carlos and Levi (who I would have guessed would have been super fast) were almost last. The most important part was that they all had a great time and want to do it again next Monday night.

Burnt Out

Whew, it’s been a busy last few days….I’m wiped out. My voice was gone yesterday and for someone like me that was the most isolating feeling. We had gone out to coffee with Peggy and Margaret and all I could do was sit there.

Today was much more laid back, we played outside for the morning, Godma Ann came to visit and then we went to an MNMs picnic. Not many moms there, it was too bad, but the boys had fun playing at Fay Bainbridge. They love that park. Made our evening easier to not have to make dinner, and just chill out while the boys played.
Tomorrow starts swimming lessons!

Scratch, Scratch

That’s how my throat feels…red, scratchy and SO sore. Bummer. Hoping it will feel better tomorrow. We have big plans for the 4th so I’ve gotta rally.

Today was the last day of gymnastics camp and the boys did their demonstration and they did really well. What a change from last year when they were the ones running around in circles and out of control. I was really proud of them!

Off to bed here, it’s late and I need to get some rest and shake this sore throat before tomorrow. Enjoy the pics of our lil’ tumblers.

You Gotta Have Friends

Another day at gymnastics camp for Levi and Carlos, Alice, Trey and I

went in to see Shrek 3. Dee picked up the boys, met us in Poulsbo for haircuts and then we went out to eat. Trey was sure surprised when the waiters showed up singing with dessert. He looked great in the sombrero. Happy almost birthday, Trey.

Came home and played out in the yard. Had our friends, the Barnums, come for dinner. Our kids just think their kids are the best. Joe gave the boys all piggyback rides around the yard, then they drove the power wheels and then came and played dress-up in the playroom. Four Buzz Lightyears and their captain, what fun!

Buh-nastics Camp

That’s what the boys call it…buh-nastics camp but it’s gymnastics and the big boys had a great time. Carlos enjoyed the face painting the most, he got glasses, a strawberry, a parachute, a telephone, a pirate sword and dots on his ear (NOT earrings, he says). He got to choose what got painted, seems seriously random.
Another day of camp today and I’ll take Trey to a movie before we get haircuts. I also promised the kids that I would set up the slip n slide. Some friends are coming for dinner tonight so we’re really looking forward to that, too.
Summer fun in the yard, seems Carlos is always the one being chased. He’s super speedy and knows it, so he dumps a bucket of water on an unsuspecting brother and takes off running.

Boy How We've Grown

I think I’m a fairly good bargain hunter. We’ve got clothes stored in the basement up until size 8 and shoes to size 2. I shop the seasonal clearance sale and get some great deals. It’s always shocking to me when our guys grow and I don’t have something they need. Today, it’s summer pjs. I don’t buy much at retail prices so imagine my shock when I scoured Target, the Evil Empire, the mall, TJ Maxx and Ross only to find that the average pair of boys summer pajamas was about $15! Um, that’s not going to happen. I would be spending $100+ just to make it between laundry days. If you’ve got boys jammies size 4-6 laying around collecting dust, we would accept them with open arms.
