Karma

I want to chat a little about Karma…oh yes, she is real!  In years past, I have been quick to voice my opinion on two things: ADHD and Wedding Planning (among others, I’m sure…these just stand out)

I don’t believe in ADHD.  In my years working with kids, I would hear a parent excuse their child’s behavior with an ADHD diagnosis.  I would think (and sometimes say out loud to others)  “Seriously?  Maybe you should be a little more strict, take control and your child won’t behave that way”  Now we have both ADD and ADHD in our family – and let me tell you, I BELIEVE!  I am still vocal and think it’s no excuse for bad behavior, but as I watch Trey just move his body the entire day…how can you not believe in it?
Secondly, and one that I am also smack dab in the middle of right now, is Wedding Planning.  I mean, really, how hard can it be to pull off a wedding?  Get some flowers, a cake, send out invitations…simple!  The people come, you get hitched and have a party, right?  Do you really need  a year to plan?  Oh, wait…it’s a little more work than I thought.  Invitations are out, RSVPs are rolling in, details are being coordinated, my dress and most of Dee’s outfit are done, kid’s clothing done, food coming along.  There are SO many little details that have to get done.  Do we throw rice at the end?  Birdseed?  Sprinkles?  Lavender? Earth-friendly Biodegradable cool looking fluff?  Nothing?  Decisions have to be made and there are a bazillion of them.  Dee is so busy in the yard (that’s where the ceremony will be) that I honestly have been a single parent of 5 kids for the last month, on top of all the coordinating that Mary (Maid of Honor-extraordinaire) is doing, I have been on the computer and making decisions non-stop all while wrangling 5 kids.
So, to all the brides out there I say, way to get ‘er done and to Karma, I humbly bow down to you.  I will not mock what I do not know.

  1. I have 2 sister who both eloped to Vegas when they got hitched (one for the first time and the other for the second time). I hope I can find a nice gal who is willing to do something like that. Too much hassle, too much money and way too much standing (in the receiving line). I hope it's all worth it to you both – and CONGRATS!
