Cooking with Kids – Tasty Baked Apples
The first step is to get the grime off kids – hand sanitizer!
Next, pick 4 big apples out and peel them (older kids can help with peeling,
I had a younger crew today so they watched)
It always helps pass the time when you can peel a super long piece of apple
skin and share with the short ones.
This may have been Erin’s favorite part
Next, take the peeler and scoop out the core.
(it’s fun to let the kids peek through the middle of the apple)
You are going to need a 4 parts sugar to 1 part cinnamon ratio, let the kids stir up
the cinnamon sugar. They tend to want to eat it so watch for little fingers
making a quick dip into the bowl (they look so innocent, but 2 of 3 tried to sneak a taste!)
Cut apples into thin slices, then let the kids sprinkle the cinnamon sugar on top
Put apples in a single layer on a wax paper covered cookie sheet.
Bake in a preheated oven at 225 for about an hour (may take longer
for thicker sliced apples)
ENJOY!

Koen's grandma thinks she will ask him to 'lead' her through this process next time they're together…looks like a recipe he could take charge of with just a little help. Thank you, Kendra! Grandma Eisenhood
