Trip to the City

My nephew, Luca, is visiting from Colorado.  We took a trip into the city with Nana to go walk the waterfront and take in the aquarium.  Ran into the Ivar’s clam, tried on some shark hats and we all (Nana included) got shark face paint!  Fun was had by all, we never get tired of the aquarium.

Traditions

We have a family tradition of going camping at Fay Bainbridge on the last week of school.  I love this tradition, as we get special time with Mary and Alice and the boys and it’s something really not many others do.  Mary’s got the trailer so when it gets cold we can go inside and sleep where it’s warm.
This time, we had to stay home one night because two boys were feverish and tired…other than that the week was great.  Cold, but mostly dry and great.  S’mores, hot dogs roasted on the fire…can’t beat it!

Funeral for Zippy

Levi’s bestest friend, Ryan had a sweet pet mouse named Zippy.  Whenever Levi would go over to play or spend the night, his favorite thing to do was play with Zippy the mouse.  Sadly, Zippy passed away yesterday.  Ryan’s mom invited Levi to join them in his burial and had a “wake” afterward.  Love these pictures of them celebrating the life of a little mouse.

Beware!

This fuzzy little caterpillar looks innocent enough, right?  Well…apparently our boy Carlos is allergic to them and, in typical boy fashion decided it would be funny to put it in his shirt and down his pants.  Oh yes, the brothers laughed and laughed, but the reaction he had to the little hairs was a horrible rash that sent him to the ER.  Now, a few days and a tube of steroid cream later, it is slowly starting to fade.
Note to other little boys – don’t put caterpillars down your pants!

Field-Bennetts ready for the party

My favorite weekend of the year…Port Townsend!  I’ll just add captions to the pictures instead of a big write up.  Just amazing people, family time and relaxing while cutting loose, too.  Hard to explain but it feeds the soul.

Levi's Visit

Levi and I got a chance to have lunch and hang out with his birth dad, brother and grandma this weekend.  It’s amazing how much the boys look like their dad.
Levi was pretty quiet the whole time, didn’t say much at all.  I think the family thought he was sad, but he was just taking it all in.  He hadn’t seen him in over a year and he said he looked different then he remembered.  He has been writing letters back and forth each week for awhile now.  It has been good letter writing practice for him, and also a chance to get to know his birth dad a little more.
