I have many great memories of going fishing with my family, and always of opening day at the Sportsman’s Club Pond.
It’s been a treat to take my boys to the same pond, all these years later. It’s still fun to try and see who can catch the first fish, the first limit and the biggest fish. Only one fish was caught by any of our guys (way to go, Levi) and it wasn’t the biggest of the derby. They fished their little hearts out, though. The coolest part was that there is an eagle who has learned that it can swoop down onto the small pond and get fish that have been caught and released. Easy dinner. Amazing to have an eagle fly so close and sit on the branch above where you are fishing.
We took Dee back the next day, still no luck but the boys got some good casting practice in and came home with a big mass of tadpole eggs. We’ll see if they actually hatch!
