Another Proud Moment

So, aikido at The Island Art Center has been tops on the boy’s activities the past couple of months. Carlos and Trey finished up their class yesterday afternoon and Carlos asked if he could stay for a little bit and watch the next class. We had a little time to kill, so I agreed. It wasn’t a typical aikido class that follows their class, it’s an adult special needs class. The boys went through developmental preschool and are very accepting and compassionate toward others with special needs, but I gave them a little heads up before the class started. After watching a little while, Sensei Chris asked if the boys wanted to help out with the class. They jumped right in and really helped! They slowed down their bear walks and were very sweet in how they worked with these adults. It was truly inspirational. It was very touching to watch my 6 year old son, walking around the dojo holding hands with a gentle giant and new friend. They are looking forward to helping out every Thursday and I am so grateful for them to have this opportunity to shine!
