I should have known we’d end up at the ER sometime on vacation…all’s fine, but poor Carlos got a nice whack on the head.
We were gearing up to go into town to hang out when he slipped on the ice, knocking his ear/head into the side of the car and then falling down. His ear immediately turned black and blue and got swollen and after about 10 minutes all Carlos wanted to do was go to sleep. Not a good sign after a knock on the head.
Just to be sure he didn’t have a concussion, I walked him to the ER (which is conveniently located right downtown) while the rest of the crew shopped. Turns out he was fine, and I figured he was but it didn’t hurt to check and set my mind at ease. With some Tylenol onboard and a checklist of things to watch for in the next 24 hours, he was good to go.

Fun at the Hat Store

We’ve been busy playing in the snow. The consistency is perfect to make a big snowman (we made 3!) and to have a massive snowball fight. It’s such a change for us to be able to go out and play in the snow without coming in soaking wet. Love it! Trey, Luca, Todd and Monica went sledding on a little hill downtown, we’re hoping to get to do a little before we leave tomorrow.

Snow Vacation

My brother and his family are in town (yippee!) and my parents are taking us all on a snow vacation! What an amazing gift, family time AND a getaway.
We started out unloading at the ferry terminal, 10 people and 15 bags. It’s a lot of luggage, but we let the boys schlep their own bags plus we had all the snow boots and gear to bring as well. We were quiet the caravan of luggage and kids.
So nobody had the pressure of driving this crew over the snowy pass, Nana and Papa got us tickets for the train. As we were walking to the train station, a Seahawks game was in progress and walked by just as they scored a touchdown. That stadium is LOUD and the kids loved the fireworks. Pretty neat to even see it from the outside.
The train ride was 4 hours, mostly in the dark. We had the whole lower section of a car, so the kids could wander around a little and we plugged them into a movie to help pass the time. Carlos and I ventured up 3 cars to the dining car and got hot chocolate for the kids. We goofed around a bit while we were waiting for it to get made.
We arrived in Leavenworth around 8pm to snow! Lots of snow. We caught the shuttle to our condo @ the Icicle Inn and settled in for the evening.
