What A Week

So it’s been quite the week at our place…this picture kind of sums it all up. Dee’s dad went into the hospital and Dee flew out to be with him. It was a long 5 days for us, just managing the crew can be a handful.
My parents and our friends really stepped up and helped me out, though, and I couldn’t have done it without them. We had 2 sleepovers at Nana/Papa’s, the other nights with the boys sharing my bed and 2 dinners delivered.
One of the toughest parts was that Dee’s Halloween Party was scheduled for Saturday night, and she’d already left! It’s a big deal each year, with flashlight treat hunting and cool food and decorations, but this year it was pouring…I was on my own…what to do, what to do? We ended up down at the KidsUp! Parent Child Center and the kids had a blast. So thankful to have the wonderful friends we do that stepped up with the food part and understood that I was just getting by. The party was a success!
Then came Halloween…we were pretty mellow in the morning, did coffee with friends and tried to make it a chilling out kind of day. Then we did the whole Winslow madness and dinner at the church to benefit UNICEF. We trick or treated at a few houses and called it a night. One of the funniest parts was at Godma Ann’s house, she gave out BIG Twix bars but Carlos ended up making a deal with her where she bought back the Twix plus another candy and he got a $2 bill. His best Halloween treat yet!
We spent the night at Nana and Papa’s house and the boys chose their 20 pieces of candy and left the rest for The Great Pumpkin in exchange for a surprise to be found in the morning. They woke up to find $5 each!
All in all a busy, hectic and crazy week…but we survived and had some fun! Dee’s home (whew!) and we’re getting back to normal. Her dad is out of ICU now and doing great!
