Bring on the army, navy, national guard…someone because Mama K needs backup! For whatever reason, our boys have completely flipped their lids the last couple of days. Maybe it’s because we’ve been sick (and Dee and I have shown weakness), maybe it’s the change in weather and hopefully it’s not a new phase for us.
I can’t really describe it, they are just acting out and being generally disrespectful and thinking it’s hilarious when we get angry.
Just to vent about some of the things….Trey decided to write (with a ball point pen) all over the playroom, Carlos has been stealing things again (little things from us and others…watch your stuff!), Levi has decided that he’s too serious and had a talk with a kid at school about being more funny. Problem is, his idea of funny is back talking and laughing about any discipline. Even at school. Not cool.
Then last night, we were at the pool for swimming lessons and the program director came up to us (when we were sitting with friends, of course) and talked to us about how having Carlos and Trey in the same class doesn’t work well and that we should think of options to change that. Trey won’t stay with his hand on the wall (uh, he’s ADHD with an emphasis on the HD) and Carlos just isn’t listening (he’s a bright kid, you gotta set down the rules from day 1 with him or he will run over you). My anger comes, not because they are acting up but because apparently it’s been going on for the last year we’ve been swimming and doing lessons but it’s just now that someone has had the guts to come talk to us about it. Give me a break, if you don’t tell me there’s a problem then how can I fix it or even talk to my boys? Personally, I know they feed off eachother, but I also think that if you tell them “no” and sit them out if they are acting out, the problem will be solved. They both qualify to have an aid (since they have IEPs) but the pool hasn’t done that until last night. It seemed to work. Oh well, it was frustrating and embarassing to be “that mom” with kids who weren’t listening to the teacher. And thanks for saying all this in front of my friends. Awesome.
Anyhow….enough venting. We’ll go on and do Halloween then things are going to really change at our house. Schedules will be followed, chores will start back up, privileges will be earned. Sounds fun, eh? 🙂

Happy Halloween
Just for fun…click here for our family Halloween greeting!
Thanks, Shannon, for the idea!
Sick Day
The big boys woke up with sore throats this morning and strep is going around Island School, so we took them in for a check. So we’ll lay low today and have a Star Wars marathon, complete with antibiotics, popsicles, juice and maybe I’ll get inspired and make some chicken soup for dinner. Fingers crossed that they all feel fine in the morning. Apparently they are cleared for school in 24 hours after meds, but we’ll have to wait and see how they all feel.
On a funny note, we bought out Safeway of their amoxicillin….they still owe us a bottle. Go big!
Wish us luck!
Market Day
At Levi’s school they have a tradition of having “Market Day” a few times each year. Basically, the kids bring in things they want to sell to the other kids and they are encouraged to make items not buy them. Each kid gets an envelope of Island School money and sets up their own store, sets the price for their items and sells away. Levi decided to make 10 paper airplanes to sell at his table and sold them for $1 each. He sold them all and said “The kids love these things, they are really flying out of here” We each came home with many treasures (the grown ups get money to buy things as well). I got a great ITunes mix cd, a caramel apple, a brownie, chestnuts to plant, a Bionicle magazine, Magic Treehouse Book and a couple of action figures for each boy.Â
Hooray for Island School and Market Day!
Party All Weekend
How did we celebrate Dee’s birthday? By watching a marathon of Saw movies, of course! Thanks to Nana and Papa for having a sleepover with the boys while we had friends over to watch the first three Saw movies with us. We stayed up way too late, drank a little too much and paid the price today but what fun we had.
We are so blessed to have the friends we have and love that we got a little bit of time with only the adults and nobody “needing” anything.Â
We also said goodbye to our good friends, Steve and Mary Hohl, who will be heading down to the sunshine for the next few months. Always sad to see them go, but glad we got to have a nice lunch together before they left. They’ll be home sooner than we know!
Looking forward to getting some rest this week…next week is our Halloween Party and a Pumpkin Carving party at Gay and Rob’s. Always busy this time of year, but I love it!

Happy Birthday Dee!
Dee’s birthday is officially tomorrow but we have a standing Monday night “family dinner” with Mary and Alice and now our friends, Rick and Michelle. Since Rick and Dee share a birthday, we had a special early birthday celebration. I found some cool Halloween cakes and the kids really got into singing. I was telling Trey and Carlos’ teachers that tomorrow is Dee’s b-day and Kathy said that Trey had told her that we already celebrated, but she didn’t get any presents. Poor Dee! Presents come tomorrow!
I Have A Fan!
You know who you are and I thank you! Got the nicest compliment today from someone I haven’t met yet. She said I have the best blog on the web. How sweet was that?!! To be honest, I see blogs all over the place with tons of comments and I rarely get any so, I’m just glad that someone’s actually reading it.
