What A Catch

I had promised the boys that when the babies left that we could go fishing again.  We snuck in a picnic lunch and a quick fishing trip in Winslow last week and Levi caught one!  Today on the way home from Bremerton we took the long way by Hidden Cove and checked out a community dock that the boy’s teacher had told us about.  Trey had fallen asleep in the car so Dee took him home, while I fished with Levi and Carlos.  Today was Carlos’ lucky day and he reeled in a small one.  Levi caught one a bit later.  So success by all, and the boys want to go back again soon!
Fishing with the boys always makes me think of my childhood  (but we were out in the Sound in the boat bringing up REAL fish).  Good times!

First Day of School

With the new early school schedule, Trey is up and out the door at 7:30am.  Luckily, he’s our early riser!  He was out of bed, fed and dressed with plenty of time to spare.  He is in the Wilkes preschool again this year and he was so excited he RAN to the bus!  Here’s hoping for another great year for him.

Holy Clothing Overload, Batman!

Wondering how your favorite family(us!) is spending their  3 day weekend?  Buried in piles of clothes, literally.  We have gone through all of the boy’s drawers, brought up the 6 bins of clothes/coats/jammies from last winter and tried on all of those as well.  All the boys have grown and moved onto different sizes.  It was a painful Friday trying on shoes, Saturday we took a break and Sunday was ultra painful with all of the clothes to try on.  We have 6 bags of outgrown clothes/shoes to take to Helpline and a few bins to take to the consignment store.  Actually thinking of starting up another blog with the nicest clothes/shoes to sell locally.  We’ll see if I can get that going.
Anyhow, here’s to another day of organization!

Kickin It

Here are some of the highlight pictures from the start of soccer season yesterday.
At the top, Carlos the Scrappy fights his way through the crowd of 5 year olds that tower above him to break free with the ball.
Then Levi takes on his opponent in the 6 year old division.
Levi and Carlos take a break and enjoy their snacks while Trey is playing his game.
Carlos scores his first goal!
My two favorite pictures….Trey scores his first goal, and his reaction to it.  I believe he was saying something like “that was awesome!” while he pumped his arms.  That boy is not lacking in self esteem!
The boys play every Saturday and would love some fans. The games are at Battle Point, on the outfield of the softball fields.   The fields are all really close together, Levi always plays on Field 3, Carlos always plays on Field 4 and Trey always plays on Field 1.
Here’s their schedule:
9/12 – 9am Levi and Carlos, 11am Trey
9/19 – 10am Levi and Carlos, 11am Trey

9/26 – 11am Levi, Carlos and Trey
10/3 – 11am Levi, Carlos and Trey
10/10 –  10am Levi and Carlos, 11am Trey
10/17 – 9am Levi and Carlos, 11am Trey
10/24 – Jamboree

Someone Loves Me

If you know me, you know I’m a martini glass collector.  I think they are fabulous!  Each glass tells a story, from the antique cracked green glass that was my Grandma Lois’ to the Eiffel Tower glass my parents brought back from Vegas, to my latest “Candy Corntini” glass from Mary.  Isn’t it amazing?!

GREAT NEWS!

Levi must have a guardian angel watching over him…the stars have aligned and he’s now enrolled at The Island School for Kindergarten.  It’s more than a school, it’s a community.  I’m excited for him and can’t wait to see how he thrives this year.

Here’s a little blurb from their webpage:
Parents, grandparents, and relatives are a welcome and integral part of The Island School community.
We are a community of teachers, parents, relatives, and friends working together to help each child achieve his or her fullest potential.
Parents and grandparents help children with class projects, read with students, and share subjects of their own passion or expertise. Parents serve on the Board of Trustees, help out at work parties, in the classrooms, and on field trips. They run the library and organize special days and holidays. Our parents are the driving force behind our Spring Live and Silent Auction, an evening adult event, the school’s major fundraiser. They support the school by giving to the Annual Fund, Capital Campaigns, and other fundraising events. Our PNAIS accreditation report states, “The Island School parents are not just supportive, they are essential”. We agree wholeheartedly! The Island School is truly a family experience.

Monkey Do

We had the preschool potluck last night, which was a great chance to see Carlos and Trey’s teachers and their friends from last year.  There were some familiar faces missing, those moving onto Kindergarten, but still many returning.
For some reason, anxiety got the best of Carlos and he didn’t want to get out of the van.  I carried him over to Teacher Kathy, tears and all, and she talked him down and got him helping her set up chairs.  We just adore her!
As you can see from the picture above, he got over it and showed off his skills on the monkey bars.  He can make it from one end to the other on the big bars.  It’s impressive to watch.
Preschool starts for Carlos and Trey on Wednesday, Trey can’t wait to go and Carlos is stressing it but I know he will be fine once it starts back up.
