Usually on Easter we have the Burr (my mom’s) side of the family to celebrate but this year everyone went their own way. We still went to Nana and Papa’s house and Nana made a tasty, tasty ham for brunch. The boys dove into their 2nd set of Easter baskets just as enthusiastically as the first and couldn’t wait to hunt for eggs that the Easter Bunny had left there. I tell ya, next year we are going to HIDE some eggs…these boys are good. We played some games and Dee even took a little nap. Relaxing, fun and a perfectly mellow Easter.

Happy, Happy Easter!

The kids are still coming down from their sugar high, we decided that this year we’d let them eat candy…and eat and eat and eat they did. I don’t think they could quite believe it themselves. Hell, the more they ate today, the less we had to fight about tomorrow. They survived and makes me truly wonder if what my parents told me about eating lots of candy (that you’ll get sick) was a bunch of crap. Hope I’m not jinxing myself and won’t wake up at midnight with a pack of vomiting boys.
So Trey and Levi wanted to egg hunt in their super hero costumes, and why not? It worked! We enjoyed the morning then headed off to Nana and Papa’s for more fun….
Jamboree

This weekend was jam-packed with fun! The little league Jamboree was the kick off to the season, although we don’t start games until next weekend. I’m sure there will be lots of baseball posts in the next 2 months, so bear with me the boys just look so darn cute in their uniforms! Luckily we are the Mariners, the boys even had jackets that we got last year at a game. Levi, Trey and I made it to the field in time to join the rest of the team and walk the bases and high 5 the “big kids” What a site. We knew a bunch of the older players so our boys were super proud.
The doughnut and running around the outfield topped it off, all in all a great morning. Dee and I are so passionate about baseball, it’s fun to see that rubbing off on the boys! I’m not saying “major leaguers” or anything (Levi does have a “closer’s arm”) but enjoying the sites and sounds is perfect.
2nd Annual Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt

What a wonderful time we had with friends tonight…our 2nd Annual Field-Bennett Flashlight Easter Egg Hunt went off splendidly. We stuffed about 430 eggs, had 15+ kids to hunt. Let them loose when it got dark and off they ran to find their hidden treasures. It’s always fun to see all the flashlights beaming around the yard. Another successful party, I’m beat and it’s not even officially Easter.
We’ve got baskets set to go and will have a little egg hunt in the morning. I filled all the hunt eggs for them with their favorite…gum.
Off to read, I can hardly keep my eyes open! Happy Easter all!
273….274….275

Tonight after practice we were treated to a spaghetti feast prepared by Mary, then we had the kids dye Easter eggs. Always a fast project, but fun and rewarding. After the dying, the kids watched a movie while we filled eggs for the 2nd annual Field-Bennett flashlight egg hunt. All in all, we filled 275 eggs! We may grab a few more tomorrow, we’ll see…that should be plenty. It’s one of my favorite parties we throw, the kids have a ball out in the field looking for eggs. Let’s all pray for decent weather!
Go Mariners!

We had our first practice today for the 2009 T-ball Mariners, what a hoot! There are 9 kids on the team and all ones we know. It’s a fun group and surprisingly a strong one as well. I think the games will still be hard to watch, drag on forever and give the crowd an incurable case of “butt rocks” but the kids all look so darn cute in their uniforms! Come watch us play ball!
6th folder, 6th picture
This photo is from July of this last year, we were camping down at Fay Bainbridge with Mary and Alice. We actually were in the tent and Mary and Alice brought down the trailer. It was great to have a “home” at the campsite. The kids had a ball and we can’t wait to camp more this summer.
Now on to tagging my 6 fellow bloggers…..Jessica, Sheri, Erika, Rebecca & Robb, Shannon and Erin. You’re turn!

Lovin' Spring Break

We had no plans for Spring Break, we have foster baby #30 with us this week so that meant we were mostly home bound. We’ve been busy tidying up the house and organizing, again. It seems every time we get on top of things the boys go in like a tornado and in 5 minutes or less it’s back to where we started.
Anyhow, I always tend to dread week long breaks, it’s just enough time for us to get completely out of routine, amped up in general and it tends to be not so much of a break. I have to admit, I have whole heartedly enjoyed this week with the boys! They have been helpful, fun to be with and have been getting along amazingly. Trey’s been the most “off” and is one who needs his routine, but even he has been a trooper.
Today was the best of all. The weather was gorgeous, the boys were out in their shorts (Carlos with a belt, of course) and played together for a couple of hours in the yard while Dee and I added some topsoil to the garden beds and weeded the poor, choked out strawberries. Came in, ate some lunch and Dee and the boys took a nap while I brought up the bins of spring/summer clothes to sort out. LOTS to go to consignment, that’s for sure. If you need 4T, 5T shorts, I way overbought at the clearance sales.
After naps we had promised Carlos that we would walk down the beach to a fort that he’s been asking us about. He has been so patient, asking for a couple of weeks but we’ve just been busy when the weather is decent and then there’s the not-spring weather we’ve been having. So we walked down to the fort and the boys continued their ongoing pirate adventure in the fort. They even said they were planning on moving it, having it be their new house. Mama’s had to point out the lack of beds, walls, food, bathrooms…..you know, just spoil the plans, but only after awhile when they were seriously thinking they were going to follow through.
On the walk back to our house, we stopped at “Lori’s Rock” and got some super cute pictures of the guys. Thanks, Lor, for getting them to smile! 🙂
