Levi's Dream

Here’s a word for word accounting of Levi’s dream from last night….I thought it was cute and random and very much from a 5 year old mind!

Me and Alice were in this car and there was a bird with a kind of orange glowing eye. Alice and I got out of the car and then there’s one more part. That’s that me and Alice were back in the car and thought the bird was gone and guess what? The bird was gone and he flew away because the bird with the glowing eye got fired. He pushed a button and said “what is this?” and the it shot fire and he got fired. Then he took the fire back up to the nest to show the other birds with glowing eyes.

Dee Escaped

While our road has been a sheet of ice, we’ve made it fun even though we are home bound. We took a nice family walk yesterday to visit Mr. Hong and the Jiffy Mart (had to get cookie making supplies) and then mailed our Christmas cards and grabbed a latte before we walked back home.
Today Dee had to get to work for a little while so our friend Margaret (the one hiding her face in the picture…she wasn’t jazzed about being on the blog) came to pick up Dee in her Jeep and run her over to the south end of the island to get some work done. How sweet was that? It helped Dee out a ton, plus she got to escape the cabin fever we’ve all been feeling. I think we may try to get out for a little while in the morning, even if it’s just grabbing a cup of coffee and some groceries before the next storm hits us.
Wish us luck!

Snow Day

We got snow, no school (bummer we’re missing out on 1 performance and 2 parties) and no work for either Mama. So, we threw some clothes over the boy’s jammies and headed out to sled! Came in, stripped back down to pjs and warmed up with some hot chocolate and now we’re watching Frosty the Snowman before we venture out to build our own Frosty!

Visits with Santa

We got to go to the Kiana Lodge Christmas party again and the boys had an amazing time. We got a family picture done (that wasn’t so great, both Trey and Carlos were looking away and I looked haggered!!!) done and had a really nice meal followed up with stockings and presents from Santa! The boys all really enjoyed seeing Santa and sitting on his lap, telling him their wishes for Christmas. Levi wants a Spiderman umbrella and a camera, Carlos wants a laptop (yes, a real laptop….got one from freecycle!) to play his computer games on and a cell phone to call Nana/Papa (that one’s not happening) and Trey wants Superman kite (just Ebayed that one…it’s on the way).
They did get some great things from Santa…the stockings were filled with candy, toothbrushes, socks and pens. Levi got a neat Spiderman on a 4 wheeler and a Spiderman laptop, Carlos got a Batman laptop and a Batman car that turns into a fortress and Trey got a Spiderman on a motorcycle and a Spiderman jet. Our boys are surely into the super heroes!

Pranks….

So we wondered if there was going to be school on Monday since the roads had traces of ice, and I’m sure more in one place or another. Hooray, school was in! So this morning, I was shocked to get an automated call saying that school was 2 hours late due to transportation issues. Hmmm….they didn’t have problems on Monday, it didn’t snow or rain/freeze and now we are on a delay? Didn’t make any sense. The hard part for us when there is a delay is that neither Trey or Levi have preschool, they get bummed out and then mad at ME for there being no school and it’s an all around not so fun day.
Anyhow, found out that the reason behind the delay today is that some student decided that late last night they would turn on the water at the bus barn, flooding it and when it froze the buses couldn’t get out. NICE. Not a fun prank…thanks to the little hoodlum that ruined my day!!! Wish you were here this morning to explain to my 3 and 5 year olds why they didn’t get to go to school. I have to say a little Ha Ha Ha…Karma is a beast….since you only got a 2 hour delay out of it all. 🙂

Gak Anyone?

If you don’t know what Gak is…not sure I can truly explain it to you. It’s made from Elmer’s glue, water and Borax and is not quite a liquid, not quite a solid. You can pick it up and it will run through your hands, you can roll it up but eventually it will puddle up again. Carlos liked making his handprint and watching it disappear.
I made up a couple of batches for the boys to play with and they thought it was pretty cool. Email me if you want the perfect Gak recipe, courtesy of a OT friend!
