Family Crest

Trey has homework…a family crest! There’s a family questionairre we all did together, my favorite part about it was asking him “what do you want to be when you grow up” and he answered “a butterfly” Hey, kid’s gotta dream! Nathan wanted me to post a picture of the family crest, so here it is.

So we finally got to the Aquarium and they had a great setup, by the big tank at the entrance was a theater screen with carpet squares in the front and then rows of chairs for the grown-ups. They did a wonderful job with the event, had juice and pop on ice, lots of candy for the kids to choose from and popcorn, of course. Kids were eating a TON of junk and loving every minute of it. We got to go through the aquarium before the movie, which was nice since there weren’t a ton of people there. Carlos LOVED the octopus, Trey was all about the jelly fish and Levi thought petting the starfish was super cool.
We will certainly do this again, what a treat…a free movie and treats at a fun venue. Next time we’ll skip the waterfront part and just come for the movie. It was a lot for our little guys for one afternoon/evening and they were exhausted by the time we were back home.

WHERE’S WALDO!?

We are members of the Seattle Aquarium and even though we don’t go even close to often enough, the kids love it. We were invited to a movie night last night at the Aquarium, a showing of “The Little Mermaid”. What a treat for us to go into the city. We had big plans for “doing” the waterfront, but little did we know that we could “do” it in about half the time we had planned and we’d be struggling to kill time with 4 kids (5 and under) for over an hour. We really did it, though. Started with an early dinner at Red Robin, walked down to the carousel and arcade and bopped some moles, skee-balled, air hockeyed and collected enough tickets to win 4 crappy fans that broke almost immediately.
We walked down to the aquarium early to see if we could just walk through, but they weren’t letting people in until 7 at it was 5:30 at this point. So we turned back around and went into some shops, had some ice cream, took WAY too long watching a guy make mini doughnuts (hey, it worked…they were amazed and we killed a little extra time!) and finally had wasted enough time to head bac to the aquarium for the movie…….

Boy's Room Gets A New Look

In one of Trey’s never-ending tantrums he was sent to bed early and proceeded to rip the wallpaper border from the wall. That didn’t make us too happy…but in all honesty we’d been thinking about changing their room for quite some time so it worked out. I have NEVER been one for character themed rooms, but we had the blue and red going with the baseball theme so Spiderman just seemed to fit. They are SO happy to have Spidey protecting them! Life’s simple pleasures, throw out my “I’ll never do this when I have kids” ideology and bring on the “what the hell, it’ll make them happy” mom mode.

So I took this picture from my van this afternoon as we were sitting outside the boy’s school in between Levi’s morning preschool session and Carlos’ afternoon preschool session. We tend to spend a lot of time in the van during the week…basically we pick up Levi, pick up Alice, pick up Jefferson and Kristian and then drop off Carlos. They eat their lunch in the car and watch some sort of movie, no surprise it’s been Scooby Doo lately.
Today was the first day it’s been absolutely pouring down rain as we sat. The windows steamed up, the kids were a little more restless and all but what amazed me about where we live is that when I looked outside, there were all the “big” kids bundled up in their rain coats and out at recess as if it wasn’t raining at all. Along the same lines, Levi asked today if we could buy an umbrella…I told him that REAL Washingtonians didn’t use umbrellas (sage advice from another friend of ours)!

Carlos Loves the Girls

So we had a placement worker call once and ask if we could take a newborn…Carlos was the only one up and I said “Dude, do you want us to have a baby for a little while?” and he said “Nah”. The placement worker knew we always got boys and said, “This one’s a girl” and I told Carlos and he said “Oh, I LOVE the girls!”

We got some baby time last night with a respite care placement. Carlos LOVES this baby and each time we pass her daycare he asks if we can pick her up. I’m thinking he’ll be a great dad someday.

Got Dirt?

Story of my life the last couple weeks…our septic system is being redone and we have trenches and 8 foot deep holes and countless pipes from the front yard to the back yard. We aren’t able to go play outside, for fear of a kid falling into a hole and never being seen again. Hoping they can get this done quickly!
