Kermit Comes to Visit

We have a rule at our house…whatever I find in while I’m doing laundry is mine. Usually it’s a little lint, sometimes a marble or penny sneaks in but today it was a frog. Seriously, I went to take the clothes out of the washer and it was sitting on the basket. I scooped him up and made him a little home in the boy’s bug watching tank. They thought he was pretty neat but we knew we couldn’t keep him. Gave him a new home in the hydrangea bush, it’s gotta be a step up from the basement!

Conferences

There was no school today for the boys, it’s conference time. We had met earlier to chat about Carlos so we only had Levi’s conference. It was all in all good. He’s really come a long way! He did a great drawing of himself that was the first one that actually looks like him (that’s exciting!), his letters are awesome and also did a number dot-to-dot unassisted that was perfect. Levi’s struggled some in school so this was quite the accomplishment and made Dee and my hearts soar.
Also ended up talking a little about Carlos and found out that he had said some truly uncharacteristic and not nice things to his speech teacher. That dampened the elation of Levi’s accomplishments a tad. I talked with Carlos when we got home for quite some time and I had him write her an apology note. We all loaded up in the van and went back up to the school so he could talk to her. He did want to write the note, he was truly sorry but all in all I think that no matter how hard it was, it was the right thing to do. He actually talked with her, gave her the note and a hug and apologized. Hopefully it won’t happen again.
Came home, played out in the yard and the kids helped pick a bunch of apples and made homemade applesauce. Always a treat!

Oh So Exciting

We got the boy’s Halloween costumes ready now, should be another great year with a theme. This year it’s Super Heroes. Levi is going to be Spiderman, Carlos is Batman, Trey is Superman and Alice is Wonder Woman. For the fun part…the grownups are planning on dressing up this year, too. I’m going to be Lex Luther, Dee’s going to be the Joker and Mary’s going to be Catwoman. TOO FUN! Now, where on Earth am I going to find a purple suit for Dee???? Anyone up for a road trip to Value Village?
