Weekends with Friends

It’s only Saturday but we’ve had the chance to see many friends this weekend. What a pleasure! Today Steph and Dave stopped in with their kids to play for a little while today and the boys loved having another boy to play trains with. They all sort of parallel play but when all get along and even work together building a track it’s cool. Just a few pics from their visit.

Wii Fit

This is hilarious….we got a new Wii Fit and it’s so cool. Mary and Alice came over to play and we all did lots of hard work. What fun! The boys hula hooped, ski jumped, slalomed and ran. What a perfect way to spend a soggy afternoon.
We all have our favorite things to do…Dee likes the ski jumping, I pretty much rock at heading soccer balls, Trey LOVES to run and Levi likes to balance. Mary spent an hour working out…she’s quite the hula hooper!
If you are looking for a new, fun way to work out this is a pretty cool option. But, the bad part about it is that it does your BMI and all and Dee and my little cartoon characters (Miis) are tubby! Hoping that will change soon as we work out more.

Sleep Much?

Trey had preschool screening early this morning and then he caught a bit of a nap in the car after we ran some errands. Came home, we were getting ready for some friends to join us for dinner and we were tidying up and all and we looked down and there Trey was, fast asleep in the hallway. Poor little guy couldn’t take it anymore. People walked over him and he didn’t even flinch. That’s our Trey, he can sleep like a champ.
Had a great evening tonight and Levi made a new friend! Steve and Mary and Katy and Colin (with their kids) came for dinner. The kids all played fabulously together, watched a little Scooby Doo while the grown-ups talked and all in all we had a wonderful night. We just love them and are glad they are a part of our lives. Funniest thing….Katy and Colin’s little girl has a bit of a crush on her new friend, Levi…see her making the “stretch and put an arm around him” move? Classic!

Margie, You Will Be MIssed

Last night we had to say goodbye to a VERY quality woman and friend, Margie Storch. She’s an awesome lady who is moving away and will be missed dearly. She’s always been one of my favorite people.
Anyhow, her going away party was last night and we were lucky to have Carolyn watch the kids while we had some grown up time. We even got Dee out of the house to go, can you believe it?! I think she had fun, too…maybe we’ll start to get out more. Ha Ha Ha!
All the best, Margie, hope this part of your journey brings with it all that you want and need.

What Were We Thinking?

Sometimes the boys are just too damn cute and they bat their long eye lashes and smile their big dimpled smiles and melt your heart. That happened tonight, when Carlos wanted to sleep in Trey’s bed and we, like suckers, said yes. Every so often one of the boys asks if they can sleep in their brother’s bed and we usually stay firm and say no, but sometimes cave and it’s never a good idea.
Tonight, at 10:30pm, the boys are all still awake and there’s major drama. See, once you say yes to them sharing a bed, it always ends up with more playing then sleeping and the you have to change your mind and send them back to their own bed…thus creating massive drama. At this point. they are quiet but mad at us.
I don’t get that either…I mean, we were NICE and let them do something cool. They were the ones who blew it. How come we’re the bad guys?!!?

Thanks Brad

I knew I liked this guy….from my favorite roles of his in Thelma and Loise and A River Runs Through It to his beautiful, multicultural family and now this:

The same week he and Angelina Jolie pledged $2 million to help fight tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia, Brad Pitt has given $100,000 to stop a California ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage – the largest donation so far from a prominent individual in the entertainment industry, reports Variety. “Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” Pitt, who gave to the group Californians Against Eliminating Basic Rights, said in a statement. A spokeswoman for the organization ProtectMarriage, which supports passage of Proposition 8, said of Pitt, “We certainly respect his right in the political process, but we don’t believe he is the most exemplary figure on the issue of marriage.”
Bi-Partisan IssueRepublican California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama oppose Proposition 8. Republican nominee John McCain is in favor of it. “It is our hope that others in the entertainment industry will step up and match Brad Pitt’s heroic commitment to equality and to defeating Prop. 8,” said political strategist Chad Griffin, who is aiming to defeat the measure, which is due on the Nov. 4. Two years ago, Pitt said about his own much-speculated-upon relationship with Jolie, “Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able.” So far, California and Massachusetts recognize same-sex marriage.

First Day of School…First Day of School

It’s official…all of the boys are in preschool. The schedule is a bit crazy, I’m spending the majority of my day in the van picking up and dropping off kids. They love school, though and are glad to be back. We now have Levi in morning preschool and Carlos in the afternoon so it’s been nice to get some time with each of the boys that’s more one on one. It’s been tough to break up the chunk of time in the afternoon that was naptime, though, seems I’m not getting as much done as I have in the past. Who needs a clean house anyway, huh?

Mother of the Year

Just a little background…tonight all of the boys got to bring a toy with them to Alisa and Holly’s to keep them busy. Levi brought his new, special Spiderman car that I bought for him the day he broke his collarbone. At one point in the evening he threw it at one of his brothers. I took the car away from him (much to his dismay) and told him it was in timeout awhile. Jump to after dinner, the car was on the table and Levi walked in and grabbed it off the table and started to play with it. I went in, took the car from him and told him that since he had thrown the car earlier that it was mine for awhile and that when a toy is taken away, he doesn’t just get to have it back whenever he wants it. He got mad and told me “you are a bad mom”
All I can say is…wow. Yeah, it hurt my feelings but all in all I know in my heart that he’s mad about the car and he still loves me, etc., etc. Where’s the love?
Carlos and Trey kept piping up in the car with “I love you Mama K” and “You are the best mom” and generally trying to earn some brownie point. Don’t you just love when the siblings step up to try to be absolutely amazing?!
Hoping he wakes up on the right side of the bed tomorrow.
