Sk8ter Bois

So I’ve found the BEST new place to take the boys. I will probably kick myself for giving up this great preschool hangout secret but oh well. Honestly, I don’t know why didn’t I think of it sooner! It’s the local skate park, in the morning before the “real” sk8ter bois” come to hang out. The cool thing about the skate park is that the boys slide in and they don’t want to get out. It’s like a gigantic, cement pack n play. They love it, though, and they found some old skate board wheels and they would roll them and chase them and they stayed busy for an hour with no complaints. We’re heading back tomorrow morning after Dee and I grab a coffee to do it again!
It’s off to the fair tonight to hug some farm animals!

Forest Friends Camp Finale

Today was the last day of Forest Friends camp for Levi and Carlos. They each had made a sock puppet (the teacher even made one for Trey, how cool is that!?!?) and did a puppet show with their little groups. They were short and sweet, thank God for that. It was neat to see what they’ve been up to all week and they were oh so proud.

Boring Again

Seriously…we are boring! I wish there was more to blog about but unless you find Tales from the Mama Taxi interesting, I just don’t have much to report.

Today is Carlos’ appt before his sleep study appt so we’re hoping that’ll bring some knowledge our way. Dee’s hanging with the other kids and we’re going to have a nice dinner with Nana and Papa tonight.

That’s about it! Off to pick up the wee beasties from Gymnastics Camp (Alice) and Forest Friends Camp (Levi and Carlos) and hop on the boat and head to the big city.

B.B.R.F.

A couple more shots of our bruiser…we thought the tattoos made him look a little tougher (instead of just a skinny little guy who got beat up!). With two little brothers I’m sure it won’t be his last. The boxing gloves are being put away for a LONG time, our guys just can’t seem to bop eachother with them.

Makes me think of when I was little and my brother and I had “B.B.R.F” in our living room. In case you aren’t familiar with B.B.R.F.s, it stands for Big Bad wRestling Fights (we couldn’t spell). My parents would always say that someone was going to get hurt and they were usually right. I was 4 years younger but scrappy and could hold my own. I do remember a time, though, when they had banned the B.B.R.F.s and my brother and I left the room very sad….then Todd said “but they didn’t ban A.D.B.B.R.F.s” and I said “A.D.B.B.R.F.?” and he said, “oh yeah, After Dinner Big Bad wRestling Fights!” and it was on. We got caught, though and when they came in the room I did the only thing I could…I played the victim role and started crying. My mom scooped me up and sent Todd upstairs to his room. He was so mad, knowing that I was faking, and trying to plead his case. My mom was hugging me and couldn’t see my face and when Todd looked back I smiled and stuck my tongue out at him. CLASSIC little sister, huh?
Another thing I remember is that our parents bought us some Bop n Sock ‘Em boxing gloves, that were like beach balls that you put your hands into. The theory behind this one was that we would be hitting eachother and it wouldn’t hurt. Well, we were too smart for that, too, and we would deflate them just enough to look like they were full of air, but that our fists could still impact the other person. Sorry ’bout that mom and dad, 1 point for the kids!

Dino Birthday

What fun to celebrate Jefferson’s 3rd birthday with him! He had a dino dig with gold rocks and REAL dinosaur bones inside, they are the boys prized posessions. My favorite part was the cool ice cream dino eggs (with cocoa krispies on the outside). The kids had a great time playing and it was nice to just hang out with the Freemans and chat, too. Can’t believe how fast the boys are all growing up.

Fish On!

Trey had the last day of Dino Camp today so Levi, Carlos and I were looking for something fun for them to do. We are a family of fishermen now…it’s pretty damn cool. So that was their choice, they wanted to have coffee with Nana/Papa and go fishing. Nana came for coffee then we headed to the docks. Success! Levi caught the first one, a little flounder that he thought was a sting ray. They were fascinated that the fish’s eyes were both on one side and the fish was flat! Then Carlos caught a little one and then this one that was a little bigger but not quite dinner size. Their dream is to catch dinner, we’ll keep trying.
Off to Carlos’ swimming lesson with Marjorie…fingers crossed that a private lesson will help out little guy feel more confident in the water.

Cool!

I won a cool contest over at a mom blogging site and am going to get these cool labels! They will be perfect for back to school, can’t wait.

You’re maybe feeling a tad jealous that my boys will be so darn organized? Don’t be…you can order your labels and bag tags and more so your kids (or you) can be just as cool as the boys!
Here’s the link, check it out!

Aikido Moves

The boys are now doing actual aikido moves and they are loving it. They spend a lot of time at home practicing, I mean who wouldn’t? They get to “throw” eachother and it’s called practice. It’s fun to watch how much they have learned, Sensei Chris is a miracle worker and the boys adore him. Plus, how cute are they in their gi?
