Trey's Dino Birthday Party

We had a great birthday party for Trey today…Dinosaurs, his favorite. He’s been looking forward to it for a long time and we had some cool activities for the kids to do. I think Trey may be the most creative almost 3 year old boy ever, though…at one point he came over with a foam sword and his foot in a bucket and said “I’m a peg leg pirate” Seriously! Linda and Scott brought the girls earlier in the day so we got some time to be with them, the girls are getting so big! Trey’s friends started showing up and playing, I had made dinosaur eggs (sand, water and cornstarch…heated then formed into an egg shape around a plastic dino and dried) that the kids broke open with a hammer, then they erupted volcanos (made out of the sand mixture and baking soda in the top and they poured colored red vinegar on top) and they did the pinata. They didn’t hit it open, but they all got a turn to whack it before Dee broke it open. Some more time playing outside, then cupcakes and presents. Whew, what a day!

Are You Serious!??!!?

The boys are having a sleepover at Nana and Papa’s house and I was up at 4:30 in the AM and not able to get back to sleep!?!? You’ve got to be kidding me. The one night that no little gremlins came into our bed to snuggle and here I am up blogging. It’s a beautiful morning, though, I can’t complain. The cruise ships are coming into port with the sun shining off their stern, it’s quite the picture.
This weekend’s a busy one…Rotary Auction this morning. We scoped it out last night and found a few things we want to get but nothing we are dying to have. We usually get a lot of boy’s clothes, shoes and toys. Also looking for some thermarest mattresses for camping. Funny thing is, there isn’t much we NEED this year, but we will still come home with a truckload full of things we never knew we always wanted. The boys love it, it’s like Christmas in June.
We’re planning on going to see Wall.E this evening with Mary and Alice and then we’ve got to get things ready for Trey’s birthday party. It’s a Dino-extravaganza….we’re planning (and this doesn’t mean it’s going to happen…but it’s the plan) on making dino eggs that they will smash and find little dinosaurs inside, a volcano that they can erupt over and over again and all in all fun stuff for them to do.
Dee’s up, it’s time to shower and head out to the auction to find some diamonds in the rough.

Show Me Your Pearly Whites

Clean bill of dental health for the big boys this week. Levi made a gigantic spectacle of gagging and spitting and drama in general that freaked Carlos out to the point he didn’t want to sit in the chair. All worked out and they did what they needed to do, and their smiles are even whiter than ever. Plus, we got to see Auntie Joy! That always makes us smile.

Happy Campers

This week has been packed with our first set of camps. Trey is at Future Stars camp and loved it. He picked out one of the counselors and befriended him. The minute we get there he says “I’ve gotta go find my guy” and he does and leads him around to all of the stations. He’s played street hockey, basketball, soccer, frisbee, football, baseball and golf. I think he liked them all but getting a tshirt and ball at the end was the best for him.
Levi and Carlos have been going to International Cooking Camp at KiDiMu. Levi is digging it, Carlos steps up and does it each day but he’s not totally into it. With all of his food pickiness, it’s not shocking he’s just ok with it. He’s being a trooper, though, and getting it done and was even excited about banana chips today.
Tomorrow is soccer for Trey, aikido for Levi and Carlos and then they get to have a sleepover at Nana/Papa’s that they couldn’t be more excited for. Mamas are going to the Rotary Auction preview then to get things ready for Trey’s birthday party this weekend. Hoping the Rotary Auction Gods are smiling down on us on Saturday…we don’t really NEED anything so that makes it easier. There’s always a truckload of things we end up with, though!

Happy Birthday, Papa

We got to celebrate Papa’s birthday tonight. Mellow (delicious!) dinner and dessert. Carlos had got a goody bag at Harrison G’s birthday and really wanted Papa to have it as something special from him. It was pretty cool, that’s our Carlos with a heart of gold. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, PAPA!

Kick Me With Your Best Shot

How exciting…Trey gets to play soccer! This is the first time he’s actually been in a sport, doing what the big boys do. It was cool to watch him, he really got into it and did exactly what he needed to do. At one point he ran over to get a drink, then ran back to play. Wish I could say the same for the two goofballs he calls brothers…they were not so much into it and gave the coach a rough time.

It was Saturday Club today, which is nice for Dee and I. We have both been struggling with allergies (or maybe a cold) and have been miserable so a 5 hour break was much needed. We got to hang out with my folks for a little bit, then grabbed a bite to eat and went to see “Get Smart”. Just what the doctor ordered, mindless entertainment.
Tomorrow we head to Silverdale because Levi and Carlos have a friend’s birthday party there. Then it’s back home for some yummy dinner to celebrate Papa’s bday!
