Just Plugging Along

Skies were gloomy this morning, but with the sun shining behind our flag. The grey skies were followed up this evening with some rain mixed with snow! April snow? Crazy for sure.

So things have been hectic here. Dee just found out that her big job deadline has been bumped up about 2 weeks so we’ll not be seeing much of her for the next couple of weeks. That along with adding little Baby X and my parents being out of town, my life is basically going to bite for a couple of weeks. I’m going to try to stay sane, that’s the goal.

Wednesday I had to kill 6 hours in Silverdale after speech until the Foster Parent Dinner. That is some good times with 4 kids, ages 4, 3, 2 and 1. We went to Chuck E. Cheese for a bit, to the mall to play and we were all completely fried by the time dinner rolled around. Dee came and took all but Carlos (he wanted to stay with me) home and I finished up at the meeting.
Thursday was MNMs and I always look forward to that. It was truly sad, though, since Bev (the heart and soul of the group) announced that she’s leaving. I’ve known her for a long, long time and she has a great way about her that is grounding and inspiring and she’s one of the reasons I go. It was a great meeting, but sad, sad, sad. The boys got to go to a dinosaur play at BPA with Grammy Kathy (Alice’s grandma), Mary and Alice. Dee and I got a little break and went across the street to San Carlos for a quick drink with some MNMs moms. It’s MNMs (Mothers Nurturing Mothers) and every so often it’s MNMs (Mothers Nursing Margaritas).

Boys had aikido today then we took off to do some shopping. Still trying to get ideas for Levi and Carlos’ birthdays. Just for fun, I bought some cool glow in the dark planets and a glowing moon that goes through it’s phases. It’ll be a great night light in the boy’s room. Levi and Trey “helped” us put them up and were really interested in all the planets. It’s funny, even as grown adults Dee and I cracked up when we hung up the planet Uranus. We’re idiots, I know, but it was funny when I was 8 and it’s still gives me a chuckle today!

Carlos must not have been feeling good because he fell asleep on the car ride home, didn’t want to get up for dinner and went right back to bed. Shopping is tough work!
Gotta run…Carlos just stumbled out of the bedroom and he’s got a little fever going on. Poor little guy!

Back To Good?

Mary is the star of the blog today…she cut all the boy’s hair last night. They look so handsome! Don’t let Trey’s tears fool you, it wasn’t about the haircut it was about him not getting “tea party” (aka dessert) because he didn’t eat his dinner. Bummer, dude.
Update on my back…it’s still hurting but managable without a bunch of meds. I actually did laundry today, so yes, things are about back to normal. It still feels like it’s tweeked, though.
Pretty regular day today, so not much to report. We did the preschool pickups and drop offs and the boys took naps and played outside. Oh, and we went to the kid’s museum and library. At the library we found Muppets Treasure Island and the kids were loving the muppets. They had never seen them and thought they were pretty cool. Me too, a little blast from the past.

Some Pictures

Bad back still…here are some pictures from the last few days. Not on the computer much since sitting is not my friend. If you need us, call us!

The kids had a great time making letters with their bodies, here are Z and E.

Still Broken

Spent the day gorked out on pain meds and muscle relaxers. Not so fun. Today seems worse than yesterday, with a brief “feel better” period in the middle of the day and now back to “when are the meds going to kick in”
This is the first time I’ve sat in my chair and checked mail, I think that’s a first in a long, long time!
Fingers, toes and all crossed that tomorrow I’ll wake up “normal”. Poor Dee has got the brunt of the work, as I havent been able to take the laundry down in a couple days and it’s tough to pick up the baby. I’m doing all I can, but that’s limited for sure. Think we’ll end up ordering pizzas until all’s better, as cooking doesn’t work so well with Dee taking care of the 4 boys and me being just about useless. I hate this feeling!
Meds are kicking in so it’s almost time for bed.

Broke Back Kendra

Not sure how it happened, but it’s making me crazy. Threw out my back and am seriously crabby. My poor boys! The meds I have help but they basically knock me out so that’s not a great option with a houseful of children. Looking forward to bedtime so I can take more meds and not worry about the naughtinesses painting Baby X blue or anything. I’m sure it’ll be better in the morning.
At some point working today, Dee smashed her thumb with her drill. So, her nail looks BAD and she’s crabby, too. Aren’t we a fun pair? I bet the boys can’t wait until bedtime to get away from us.
Good news…I got the seatbelt extenders from Toyota and now our booster seat buckling problems are solved. Levi and Alice can actually find the seatbelt buckle and get themselves buckled without any drama. My life has improved.
We had a great lunch with Godma Ann today, it’s always nice to visit with her. She’s one of those people I truly enjoy spending time with.

Yo Ho, Yo Ho….

We’ve been teaching the boys a new song and they have been singing it ALL day. It’s pretty stinkin cute. It’s “Yo ho, yo ho a pirate’s life for me”

Today while Levi and Carlos were at school I took Alice, Trey and Baby X to the Kid’s Museum. There was a pirate camp preview and Trey and Alice followed this pirate around the muesum for about 45 minutes looking for treasure. It was pretty great, so we’ll see about getting the boys into pirate camp this summer. They also have a dino camp that Trey would go NUTS for.
Good news for Trey, he’ll be starting preschool at St. Barnabus next fall! Just found out today, this is great news for our little guy. It’s only a couple of days each week but that will be perfect for Trey to start out with since he’ll most likely have three years worth of preschool.
No school tomorrow but it should be fun. We’re going shopping for Baby X at Fred Meyer (our boys love to go play there and it’s a nice 1 hour break for me) and I promised them a visit to Chuck E. Cheese, then speech. Busy busy Wednesday.

Insomnia Killed the Microwave

I had trouble sleeping last night, not sure why…I got a chance to take a bit of a break and went with Suzanne and her kids (I had the baby and Trey) to the Supermall. Levi and Carlos had aikido and then my folks picked them up for a day with Nana/Papa where they were going to make pasta and then we would join them later for dinner. The pasta was tasty and the boys had fun making it. They didn’t act up and get crazy until we showed up.
So once we got home, the total meltdown continued until they fell asleep. I had a hard time falling asleep and tossed and turned all night. Morning came very early, as I was up at 5:30 getting ready to leave. I went with Carolyn and Suzanne to a consignment sale in Seattle of families of multiples. I got some things for the baby and a few things for the boys, all in all a fun outing and got some good deals.
I’ve been kind of zombie-ish all day and laid down with the boys to nap. Got up, was hungry and put some popcorn in the microwave. The “popcorn” setting never pops it enough, so I set the timer for 4:30 minutes then TOTALLY forgot that I had even started it. That’s when the house filled with foul smelling smoke and our microwave turned dark yellow inside. I scrubbed it, I scoured it, but it’s still yellow and it smells really nasty. Another one bites the dust. I’ve got a picture I’ll post..but you can basically get a good mental picture. White microwave turned yellow. Only wish the blog had smell-o-vision so you could truly understand the big picture. Yuck! If anyone has ideas on how to get rid of this smell throughout the house….let me know.

Busy Wednesday

We’re getting a new septic system…the boys were STUNNED to see a bulldozer right outside our front door. They kept waving at the driver and Carlos felt the need to crack the door open and keep reminding the worker to “be careful not to be hitting my tree”
We headed to Silverdale and did some shopping and speech (it IS harder with 4 kids!) and then met up with Fishers to play in the mall. Carlos took the walk down the mall as a chance to hold hands with Megan and Kayla and lead them to the play area. He’s a riot! They all enjoyed playing, they’ve been wanting to play there for quite awhile and we just haven’t had the time. I also found a $12 pair of cool Adidas tennis shoes for myself so I was happy about that.
Came home and Carolyn and the kids came to do some laundry and hang out.
MNMs tomorrow, yippee!!!!!!!!

April Fools!

Looks like the “big guy” played a little April Fool’s Day joke….Seattle’s gone missing!

We’ve got a new baby for the next 30 days. He’s 1 year old and having some adjustment issues but hopefully tomorrow will be an easier day for us all.
