Rock Stars

Dee and I have our bands named (mine is the “Scurvy Dogs…duh) We asked the boys what they thought Dee’s band should be named and Carlos came up with ” Pokey Hairs ” and it stuck. We rock, the boys rock, it’s been fun! Come rock with us!

The Good Life

We just had the best meal, thanks to Nana and Papa. We’ve surely been spoiled this week with some fine cooking. It’s back to pot roast and casseroles come tomorrow.
We will surely miss Todd and Luca being here. Levi stayed overnight at Nana and Papa’s tonight. He and Luca have really hit it off and Todd was planning on staying over at our place one night while they were here but it never really worked out. So, since Levi kept asking we figured he’d really love it.
Gotta stop blogging….Carlos just made his nightly journey out from the bedroom to my arms. It’s sweet time together, I love it but I can’t type.

Fun!

Nana and Papa rocked Chuck E. Cheese. It was fun to see them getting into the games (they even played air hockey without a grandkid in sight). My favorite part was when Nana beat the Screaming Gorilla game (it vibrates uncontrollably and you have to hold on). I believe she said it was “just awful”.

We got Guitar Hero in the mail today…finally….pictures to come of the rockin’ Field-Bennett clan.

Damn!

Good thing you are sitting at your computer and I’m here flying solo at mine, because I am smelling WEIRD. I’ve been having some upper back/lower neck pain for the last couple weeks and tonight I’m trying a “hemp hot rub” that I got at the Island Health Food store that just folded, and along with it I’ve got an “herb” bag that you heat up in the microwave. I smell like a hippie wanna be! Hoping it’s going to help, it’s actually been feeling better some days, worse others.
Went to Chuck E Cheese today with the boys afterschool. It’s seeming like home away from home, but the boys love it and it’s a cheap way to entertain them for a couple of hours. There is no Chuck E Cheese in Montrose, CO so he wanted to be sure that Luca got the experience while he was here. The boys also got some money from Todd and Monica for Christmas, so they were excited to go to Target and pick out some new toys. They got a game for their Leapster and each got a cool “Cars” car and a ramp that shoots them across the floor. It was nice they could agree on a group toy AND get individual ones.
I THINK I got a great deal at Old Navy today….supposedly, according to my sources, there is going to be a 50% off the clearance price sale at Old Navy that’s starting on Friday. So today I went and bought 6 winter coats and 6 shirts for the boys, all for $120. If the sale happens as planned, I will be able to take my receipt in on Friday and get $60 back. If not, I’ll take all the clothes back. Hoping, hoping, hoping for the sale! I mean, a winter coat for $7 is unheard of!

Busy, Busy, Busy

Lots of pictures from a hectic but wonderful day. Started out with all of the boys climbing into our bed to snuggle and read books. What a great way to spend a morning!
We met Mary and Alice for coffee then took the kids to the park to play. It’s always fun to hang out with them.

We went over to Nana/Papa’s for the Burr Family gathering. The kids had a ball, wrestling with Owen and Audrey and Aunt Kathy gave them some cool shirts and books.
Got Trey and Dee home so Trey could nap and Dee could get ready for the work week and Todd and I took Luca, Levi and Carlos to Wilkes to run off a little energy before dinner time. We ate pizza and built a huge train track, got the boys bathed and tucked into bed.
School tomorrow….back to reality!

Still In the Darkness

We still have no power, with Puget Sound Energy not even willing to give us an estimate as to when the power will be restored. Frustrating. With Todd and Luca staying at my folk’s place, we’ll most likely rent a hotel room for the night and we’ll get a good night’s sleep and hope the power is on in the morning.
We went to the boy’s friend A.J,’s birthday party this afternoon. Levi, Carlos and Luca all LOVE trains and that was the theme. A.J.’s family did a great job, they rented a big space, set up some ride on trains and a train table. The kids went wild. What a great way to spend the afternoon for them.
Looking forward to crab and Granpa Burr’s recipe Caesar Salad for dinner. YUM!

Oh What Fun….

Carlos and I hopped on the ferry last night and met up with Nana and Papa. We went to the airport to pick up Todd and Luca! Carlos was SO funny, he loves having the one on one time. He found a little piece of cardboard on our stop to Trader Joe’s and used it as a “skate” to cruise around the store. We bought his new toy to the airport and they had the best floors to skate on there. We had time to kill and grabbed a Starbucks (just an FYI…do not get their new Skinny Cinnamon Dolce Latte, yuck!) and guess what!? Starbucks had “free skates”! I grabbed a handful of cup sleeves and Carlos was jazzed to have new skates.
We picked them up, drove home and returned to a dark house. I knew Dee, Levi and Trey had gone to bed but it was DARK….you guessed it, no power. So we froze our tails off all night, got up early and headed over to Nana and Papas for some warmth. When we left our place it was only 57 degrees inside! So much for Nana and Papa having a relaxing morning…here come the boys. They have been good, and the just hanging out time with Todd and Luca is the best. Hoping the power comes back on or we’ll be checking into a hotel. I hate having to pay to stay somewhere because PSE can’t seem to get off their butts and get our little strip of road some power. Honestly, the rest of the island has power, it’s not right. I’m a tad bitter.
Fingers crossed that the power comes back on soon!!!!!

WOO HOO Mama Dee!

Dee just landed a HUGE job! Way to go Mama Dee! It’s going to be great for the family, I mean, after the month she’ll be working her fingers to the bone and I’ll be a “single mom” it will be a positive. It’s a real ego booster for her and the happiness is just oozing out of her pores. It’s cool to see, we all know she’s amazing at what she does but it’s nice to get a pat on the back every so often. Oh yeah, and she’s taking Mary and I to VEGAS.!!!!
Aikido camp went well today, it was strangely cool to watch Carlos and Levi sit on the mat and bow and follow directions without complaint. Carlos was really clingy but really got the movement part. It’s something we’ll look into continuing for sure. The cool part about Aikido is that it’s not about fighting, it’s about bringing your opponent down and de-escalating the situation. If all the boys were trying to de-escalate, wow, can you imagine?
I’m so excited, my brother and his son are coming into town on Friday. It’ll be so great to see him, it’s been awhile. Luca is only two weeks older than Carlos so all the boys together truly dig eachother and have fun playing together.

The craziness starts next week…if you want to come hang out with me and the boys, just give a holler.
