The Games We Play

We try to make everyday tasks more fun at our place, just to keep things interesting. Levi and Carlos compete to see who can get dressed first all the time, and one of the Mamas helps Trey and we see who “wins” We don’t want the boys to see eachother as opponents all the time but they root eachother on as well and they don’t really get who wins or loses, as you will see in this little clip.

Oh, and Dee and I about wet ourselves laughing at Carlos and Levi playing Wii baseball. We didn’t think they could do it, but they can and they love it.

Lastly….we wrestle each night, the whole fam damily gets on the floor and rolls around! It’s fun for all of us and time Dee and I truly love with the little guys.

We're Recruiting

Friends beware….we are recruiting people to play Guitar Hero with us! 🙂
It’s been a busy few days for the Field-Bennetts. Friday night we went out to a movie (saw the Bucket List….recommend it, very thought provoking and good!) and Carolyn came to stay with the kids. It was great to get some time out and the movie really reminded us how important “date night” is for us as well as for the boys. So, we’ll be looking for people who want to come hang out with the little rascals while we keep our relationship fresh and new. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
Dee had to work part of Saturday and it was “Saturday Club” for the boys. They get to go play for 5 hours and we get a break, at least that’s the idea and what I was looking forward to. Mary and I were going to paint the kitchen with our free time BUT Carlos decided it would be a great morning to wake up with pink eye. So, the best laid plans…..painting turned into going to coffee with Mary and Alice, dropping Levi and Trey off at Saturday Club, taking Carlos to the doctor’s then meeting Godma Ann for noodles and meat (Carlos’ pick) and then going to see National Treasure. Dee joined us for lunch and the movie and it was nice to have some time devoted to one boy. That’s another thing we are going to try to work on.
Today we were just being lazy and Mary called to see if we wanted to go to crepes. We love doing that, but were seriously lazy so she came over and hung out at our place. We decided to take the kids to the pool, she had promised Alice, but Dee’s head was hurting so it was me taking the three boys. It was an adventure to say the least and all went really well until some little 10 year old brat stole Levi’s kickboard and Trey (the baby!) held onto him and pulled him back up. I had Carlos on my back and had turned my head for a second to see where Mary and Alice had gone and turn back to see the kid leaving and Levi panicking and Trey keeping him afloat.
Alisa, Holly and Jack came over with tacos for dinner and to play some Wii. What a treat, we truly love spending time with them and always have so much fun. Good friends!

VEGAS, BABY!!!!!

We got a STEAL of a deal….let me just say that I love Priceline. 🙂 Anyhow, we are paying less for a 5 star hotel than we would for a regular ol room at one of the hotels on the strip and we are staying at the Palazzo. The place hasn’t even opened yet (opens this weekend). It’s ALL suites, so we will be staying in a 720 sq foot suite with plasma tvs in all rooms, marble bathroom and fancy thread count sheets on the bed. I can’t wait! If you want to check it out, here’s the site: http://www.palazzolasvegas.com/

We aren’t going until March but it’s fun to get it booked and get excited.

Silence Is Golden?

Ok, so I know it’s “Wordless Wednesday” and I love it on other people’s blogs because I like seeing the pictures and I also like it on ours because I love to share our pictures….BUT….I am a talking, a Chatty Kathy even, and I don’t like being told not to talk. It’s crazy but on Wordless Wednesday is a really hard day for me not to blog. I know, I’m crazy. So anyhow, I’m blogging…because it’s my blog and I want to even though it’s Wednesday. Deal, people.

And I have to add a little shout out to Melinda (from Harrison Pediatric Rehab…..it’s where Carlos goes for speech, not a rehab facility for strung out toddlers…geesh, people). Girl, you are in trouble. I was not planning on going back to Old Navy but since you mentioned it at speech today I couldn’t help myself. Spent another $40 on clothes for the boys. Such a deal, a big bag full of clothes for $40 is really cheap, but I was trying to resist.

Speaking of rehab, I’m in serious need of a program for Guitar Hero addicts. No joke, I’m having a ball playing it and I think I’m pretty damn good, too. I feel a little crazy being an mom and all into a kid’s game.

Had a trying day today, but my mom was a HUGE help once again. Thanks Mom! The boys were just revved up for some reason, full moon? We went shopping for a little bit then onto speech and then to WIC. I know it was a lots of boring stuff for the boys. Came home and let them play in the bathtub and read a bunch of books and tucked them in.

Oh, and thanks Minda for the care package…the boys are loving the books and Levi especially is SO excited about the Legos and loves that there’s a pirate ship he can build in the bunch of them. You are a great friend and way too generous.

Things That Are

This morning I was making a new recipe (I’ll post it if it’s any good) for chili in the slow cooker. As I’m chopping, I hear my watch alarm go off. This isn’t a watch that I wear, it’s one I bought and now the alarm goes off at 8:24 every morning and I can’t figure out how to turn it off. Anyhow, it got me thinking. There are things that just “are” and that’s comforting to me in our lives of chaos. My watch will ALWAYS go off at 8:24 each morning and at that time a neighbor girl will most always be walking by our window going to the bus. It’s comforting for some odd reason.
Anyhow, we’ve been planning our Vegas trip…WOO HOO….and we are going to go for my birthday. It’s fun to plan, we may even GAMBLE before we go and do Priceline for our hotel (where you name the price but don’t know where you will stay). Fingers are crossed. Lots of fun things to do. For sure we are going to gamble, get a tattoo, watch the Bellagio fountains a million times and catch a show. If you have any “must do” things for us in Vegas, let us know!
Off to speech and WIC and a day full of things to do…..

Let's Get Comfy!

We’re getting a new sectional sofa….and I can’t wait! Say goodbye to the recliners and not so comfy leather couch. We went furniture shopping today thinking that we would go for a set of 2 new leather recliners and a sofa BUT we were at JC Penneys and found a cool sectional. It’s got a reclining loveseat on one side, then a wedge seat that will fit the boys nicely, then a reclining sofa. Guess where the comfy, cool place to hang out will now be?! 🙂

Here’s a kind of picture….it’s not exact but you get the idea. This will be the first new furniture we’ve ever bought. Kind of grown up like.

Ahhhh Sunday

It’s a lazy, lazy Sunday…..ah, feels good.

Yesterday was the Island Invite wrestling tournament that I have done computers at for the last 17 or so years. It’s fun, it’s a day to hang out with adults and watch some great wrestling. Levi came with me in the morning and I took him to an “I Spy” art class that he loved. He made some great I Spy art with lots of glue and cool gadgets. Dee picked him up from class and hung out with the boys, watching the Seahawks game (LAME!!!) and playing Guitar Hearo (our new obsession).

They came up to the tournament in the afternoon and the boys got to run around and wrestle on the mats they had put aside. Matt Pederson, an old friend, is one of the wrestling coaches at BHS and is so great with the boys. I had shown everyone the video of Carlos and Levi wrestling, and they all were impressed with Carlos’ moves. He’s good. So, it was fun for Matt to teach him some of the rules to go along with his moves. Trey is still a WWF type wrestler and pretty much just rams you and pulls your hair so beware if you dare wrestle him!
Carlos wanted to wrestle on the big mats so he stayed behind with me so he and Matt could wrestle after the big guys got done. He LOVED it, and kept rolling Matt onto his back, slapping the mat and yelling “pin!” It was hilarious.
Going to coffee this morning and then out to look for some new living room furniture, won’t that be fun!?!?!?! I’m excited about the new furniture part, we have NEVER bought new furniture, but hate the idea of schlepping the boys around to boring stores. They will surely rebel.
