Christmas Eve

We’ve had a laid back Christmas Eve…so nice to have friends drop by and visit! So good to see Allie and Godma Ann, and at the same time even and Maymay and Holly! Some of our favorite people for sure and always good to see them. 🙂

The boys helped make cookies for Santa, they were convinced that we needed to MAKE them, not buy them. Have to be sure not to piss off Santa, I guess! The boys did well cutting out the cookies and we’ll be frosting them soon. That should be gooey and messy.

Levi’s sporting a temp today (102.5..yikes) and some body aches but hopefully he’ll bounce back and feel better tomorrow. Makes for some good snuggle time with our big guy, but I hate seeing him feel so bad.
Thought I should post some pictures as we get them so here goes…

Faker, Faker, Faker

Carlos has been the model lately, so there have been lots of blog pictures of him. The other boys don’t want pictures taken. I’ll sneak some in!

Anyhow, we had a great time at Gramma Patti and Gramma Jeanie’s house yesterday, they got the boys a karaoke machine that has a camera that hooks to the tv so you can see yourself singing. Dee’s off to the store right now to get some batteries but we hooked it up and they LOVED seeing themselves on the tv. Many silly faces were made, our boys are total hams. The next American Idol is standing in our living room.
We picked up Nana and Papa in the ol’ minivan and drove around Bainbridge and Poulsbo to see Christmas lights. It was an adventure for sure, and to our surprise, it was Carlos (not Levi) who talked the WHOLE 2 hour and 16 minute trip. He spun tall tales of alligators and tigers and Levi piped in about seeing sharks fins in the ocean. It was great dialogue.
We had meltdown when we got home, though. Levi and Trey went off to bed with little fuss but Carlos, as usual, fought sleep. He threw a dramatic tantrum with tears and all, but when I pulled out the camera to document it he couldn’t keep a straight face. He’s a great actor. We took a self-portrait and scooted off to bed.
It’s tough to stay mellow this time of year!

Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

What a day…fun but totally packed. Carlos and Levi had a visit to the dentist this morning, they both got gold stars and did a good job. It’s more to get them used to it so they don’t freak out and never want to go as an adult. They love to brush their teeth so we’re good there, just have to start flossing (yuck!) and I’m not looking forward to that one.

Dee took Carlos to finish up some last minute shopping, while I headed to the Evil Empire with Trey and Levi. Shopping was quick (I had to get a Wii controller) and when we got home we got a visit from Gay and Rob. So nice to see them and they brought some cool dinosaurs for the boys. I love the “hat” and “slippers” that roar and the boys all took turns putting them on and being the dinosaur. They also made some delicious cookies that we will be enjoying for awhile!

Nana and Papa came over for dinner tonight and we made Pork Chops with Hot Slaw. It’s a recipe from Beth (thanks Beth!) that we LOVE. We don’t get it too often because if we did, well, we’d expire. It’s got bacon, pork chops, cabbage, brown sugar and cider vinegar. If you want the recipe, just ask, it’s well worth it. Tonight was the night that the local fire department came around our neighborhood with the Christmas firetruck. One of my very favorite things about living here, it’s the small town stuff. We heard them coming up the road, we grabbed the boys and Nana and Papa and went out on the porch. They stopped the truck right at our driveway and played a whole song for us! The boys loved it. You just don’t get that anywhere.
After dinner we dropped in on Kathy and Glenn (Kathy’s the boy’s teacher and they’ve been friends for years) to drop off a check, we bought the van from them. They had an amazing antique train set under their tree that the boys fell in love with. Glenn made the calculated mistake of getting on his hands and knees and being a horse, and all three boys jumped right up on his back. He also wrestled around with them. Kathy and Glenn and truly special people and we just think the world of them. After the boys got all hyped up, we came home and tried to get them to bed. It wasn’t tooooooooo painful, they were tired.
Dee and I got some time to play the new Nintendo Wii. We love it, it’s going to be great. Lots of moving and competition. Carlos likes the bowling, we like the baseball (duh) and Donkey Kong is pretty fun. We haven’t played them all yet, but it’ll be something new and different for us to do.
Also, some pictures of Family Dinner with Mary and Alice….the gingerbread house making (which we discovered this morning that Abbie had eaten a wall of the house!) and Mary’s new slippers!

Remember the Feeling?

So I’ve been feeling SO badly about the whole posting about foster babies it’s been eating away at me. It doesn’t seem to end, and every time I hear that another person is questioning me or my intentions, I feel like a kid being called into the principal’s office. I dealt with the issue within hours of being told there was a problem. I know the people who had an issue with it are probably still reading this, and I hope they are because I truly, truly meant NO harm in it and didn’t even think about it being an issue.
So apparently my blog reaches more people than just our family and close friends (welcome to the newbies!) who already know the babies who come into our lives. We love these babies with all of our hearts, that’s why we foster, so I would do nothing intentional to jeopardize their safety.
With that being said I hope this is over. Please, it’s a family blog and nothing more and believe me…any child that comes into our care will be referred to as “baby x” and NO information about them will be posted.
I don’t like feeling like this when it was an honest mistake.

My Boys Like To Party!

Today was the last day of preschool for TWO WEEKS. I’m trying to contain myself and not throw a tantrum, throw myself on the floor and sob. I keep telling myself it’ll be ok. It’ll be ok. It’ll be ok. It will be fun and we’ve set up some extra structured activities that will keep them busy. Hopefully the weather will hold a little and we can hit all the parks and get them outside to run around.
The preschool “holiday” party was today. Nana watched the other kids while I ran up for Levi and Carlos. They did cool penguin crafts and made bracelets and listened to Teacher Kathy read the Polar Express. I was super smart and video taped her reading so the boys can watch it if they are missing school.
Big news around here is that we bought a Nintendo Wii. The plan was to make a profit and sell it, but it looks like we’re going to keep it. We haven’t bought anything like this for us in well, almost 5 years. We have a super ninendo and playstation 1 that aren’t even plugged in. We’ve been told by friends that this is fun and gets you moving and Dee and I can play together. Good times!
OK, Dee’s building a gingerbread house with the kids….they all seem happy so far but I keep hearing “hey, don’t eat it all!” so I better go check it out.
