So I had the BIGGEST scare today…the boys and I went on a walk with our friend, Lee and the little girl she watches, Natalie in the Grand Forest. Yeah, it was soaking wet but not too bad in all the trees and the boys were excited to put on their boots and raincoats and be outside. We had walked quite awhile and were headed back to the car when Levi and Carlos decided to run ahead…Trey tripped and I helped him back up, then went chasing after the boys. There was a fork in the trail and they were nowhere to be seen. I went one way, Lee went the other and I spent the next 10 minutes running through the forest looking for my kids. It scared the hell out of me, they were nowhere to be seen. When I finally caught up with Lee, she had found the boys in her direction. I was so happy to see them, but so mad they had run off. They knew it. We had to find the lady (who I met in the woods and was also looking for them) and tell her they were found and the boys apologized to her. We came home and had a good long chat about this. Next time we go to the forest we will pull out the leashes and the boys won’t get far. Scary for sure. Pictures are pre-boysbeinglost…sorry they’re blurry, it was too dark in the woods for good photo ops.

Off to speech therapy with Carlos…it’s B’s last day and he’s already saying how sad he is. We got her a little something and Carlos is excited to give it to her.

Sometimes things happen in life that show you just how short it can be. On this small island, word got around fast about the local Starbucks barista who died this weekend in a jetski accident. It’s very sad, she was always super friendly to us all and Dee enjoyed talks about her kids (12 and 13) while waiting for the coffee to be made. Please send good thoughts and prayers to this family, who lost an amazing lady.

Dee and I have been working the last couple of months on making our lives more simple but better. We’ve freecycled a LOT of clutter, gone through everyone’s clothes and toys and got rid of what isn’t played with or was outgrown. We’ve also started walking each night with the boys. We’ve been to the Grand Forest (they LOVE the huckleberries) and to Battle Point (where they chased bunnies) so far. They love going on walks and Dee and I get some much needed exercise. Come join us if you want, it’s always an adventure!

The boys are aching to get their new bikes out on the pavement…our grass makes the training wheels not work and the back wheels just spin. Great for a workout, not so great if you are trying to get somewhere. They still look incredibly cute with their helmets and bikes.

We got a new minivan! It’s great, a 2000 Toyota Sienna. It’s Napa Burgundy Pearl with grey interior and in amazing shape. The best part about it is that the boys seats are separate and the fighting has gone down incredibly. I never thought I would be jazzed about getting a minivan but it’s really what our family needs at this point so it’s good. As of now, we are keeping the Volvo as a second car, plus we have Dee’s work truck. We may sell the Volvo at some point, just won’t get too much for it so it may be a better move to keep it. I’ll also try to get a better picture of the van tomorrow….this’ll give you an idea, even with the shadows.

Here are some pictures from the big trip to see Thomas the Train!
Hoping to get the minivan today….and maybe do some laundry! Heading to our Sunday morning coffee at the “Pullapart House” as Levi calls it. 🙂
Something funny, the boys were role playing the other day and Carlos says to Levi, “Levi, you be a monster and I’ll be Linda Raquer (his speech therapist)” I cracked up! Who knew the speech therapist would have super powers strong enough to fight a monster. She certainly does in the eyes of Carlos.

We had a nice, relaxing day…half of it being kid-free! Imagine that, doesn’t happen often at all and it was much needed.

Nana and Papa took Levi and Carlos to the big city to see Thomas the Train (the Snoqualmie railroad decks out a train to look like Thomas) and the boys had a blast. The guys each got $3 out of their banks to buy some candy…picture #2 is Papa helping them attach their wallets to their beltbuckles. Picture #3 is me handing Nana the backpack with all their snacks, Levi’s inhaler, wipes and any other necessities. When Papa emails more pictures of their day, I will post them.
Mary took Trey out for crepes in Kingston, then hit the farmer’s markets and then he and Alice played for a couple more hours. He had so much fun with “May-may”
Dee and I started out the morning getting coffee…great way to start the morning….then looked at a job Dee had to do, then headed into Silverdale to try to find a bike for Carlos. Found one, then went to see the new Harry Potter movie. What a treat to just have some down time with nobody hanging on us or asking us to get something or breaking up arguments. We love being moms, but sometimes a break is nice and that doesn’t happen often.
We came back, picked up Trey and headed over for a perfect evening of relaxing at Alisa and Holly’s place. The boys are still worked up from such a fun day, but so exhausted too…hoping they settle down and get some sleep soon.

Fun in the sun! What a gorgeous day….I’m burnt, but oh well (it’ll turn to tan in a couple days and I’ll be happy again). They started out playing with their new pool and squirt guns and within an hour, they were all naked, except for Trey wearing his crocs. I think the first picture is my very favorite in a long time! 🙂
Tomorrow’s Carlos’ future stars camp, Levi’s got a playdate and Carlos has speech. I think we’ll be in the car a bunch and doing a little shopping in the air conditioned mall.

Here are some pics from Trey’s birthday…the Burr family gathering this afternoon…and a trip to “Frog Rock”…and Carlos, Trey and I crashed in bed this morning.

We’ve had a busy weekend starting with the Rotary Auction (thanks, Nana for watching the boys!). We got lots of stuff…clothes for the boys, our annual t-shirt supply, an iMac computer and some games, Tonka trucks, a bike for Carlos and some other random stuff. Great people watching for sure!

Had a nice lunchtime gathering with the Burr family, Debbie and Randy came to visit from Montana. It was so nice to have them here!
Oh…and we bought a MINIVAN! Didn’t think I’d ever be happy to say that, but we really are tired of the fighting in the car with them scrunched in the backseat. At least this way we may have some peace and quiet or at least happy sounds while we drive.

Happy 4th of July!

The boys were up late (I was trying to get all the summer clothes put away so we could get rid of the bins for the party) and had a hard time settling down. When we went to bed and stopped in to check on them, Trey was fast asleep on the floor next to the door of their bedroom.

We had a great evening, though and had Sawatdy Thai food with Allie! What a treat!

Here are the links to each of the boys singing their ABC’s!

Heading downtown to the parade here soon, Dee got the boys some red, white and blue sprinkle doughnuts from Safeway and they are out on the porch eating them. Too cute! Going to be a busy, busy day but it should be a fun, fun day!

“dime watch” – day 1….no sign of the dime.
