Happy 5th Birthday Pickle!

The happenings of the day…Levi and Alice went to preschool, Nana took Carlos to feed the ducks and to have “noodles and meat” (their Tuesday tradition) and then Nana and Papa came to have dinner with us tonight.

After dinner and bath I took the big boys to the high school basketball game. They just love going and the action and treats they get. It’s been tough getting Carlos down to bed after he gets to excited.

Not much planned for tomorrow….going to playgroup then off to find some 7 WIDE shoes for baby Trey.

We had a great weekend in Hoquiam celebrating Leila’s 5th birthday. The boys were good on the ride down and we got to have cake and ice cream with the girls. Carlos isn’t a cake and ice cream kinda of guy (no dairy, remember?) and he shared with Emma who is truly a cake and ice cream kind of girl. We decided to take Leila shopping at Walmart for her birthday, so she could pick out what she wanted. We put Trey to bed and headed to town, it took her forever to pick but she chose some Breyer horses.

The favorite toy of the weekend was a paint roller, Mama Dee was SO pleased to see that.

Drove home this afternoon, put the boys down for a nap and I did my grocery shopping with Suzanne. Just watching the boys play a little before bed….great weekend but also good to be home. Time for laundry!

Here are the proofs from our pictures today…they turned out cute! I especially like the one of Levi and Carlos in their heart undies. They had fun getting pictures done, then going to Target to shop.

We’re heading to the ocean this weekend to see Dee’s side of the family…can’t believe it but Leila’s just about to turn 5 years old. Seems like just yesterday we were putting her hair in little fountain pigtails.

So here’s the question….I’m going to try to get the boy’s picture taken today (valentines picture at the Picture People). I’m planning to have them in jeans and polo shirts. Here’s the dilemma….what color polo shirts? I have 3 red, 2 white, 1 light blue and 1 pink. I was thinking…Valentine’s day is traditionally red, white, pink and then wondering if that was a good idea and if the boy in pink (probably Trey) is going to be ticked off later in life and have to go through tons of therapy that we can’t afford. It’s not the pink shirt thing, because they all love the pink shirt, it’s just if the others…oh hell, you get the idea.

I do have Tommy Hilfiger light blue, white and red polos that would match since they are all Tommy, but that doesn’t look very Valentines.

It’s a dilemma! Help!

Ok, I’m getting grief for not blogging….seriously, it’s only been a couple of days!
Anyhow, we’ve been enjoying the weather and took the boys down to the beach today. They loved throwing rocks in the water and poking at the sea anemones. It got a little chilly later in the afternoon, though. Didn’t stop Dee and the boys from playing a little game of touch football in the front yard after the beach.
Also, we’ve all still been working on the spring cleaning and the house is looking GOOD!
I took the big boys to the BHS basketball game last night and they loved it. There was so much excitement and noise. It was a great game and we plan to take them to a couple more before the season’s over.
Tonight was the Kitsap Foster Parent meeting so Carlos and I had a nice mom and me evening. I even won a nice, new handbag at the raffle. I think Levi’s going to dig it!

Ok, Laura said I needed to post….so here goes! We went out to coffee this morning with Margaret, her daughter Olivia and friend Peggy. It was nice to hang out and chat with the ladies. We always have a good time with them!

Then we’ve been cleaning out the house so we had some deliveries to make…cereal to the Kruses (we had a ton that the boys weren’t eating quick enough) and I had to stop by Nana and Papa’s to fax my receipt from Applebee’s yesterday so I would get paid for that. Came home, got the boys a nap while Suzanne and I went to Safeway for our weekly shopping. My mom made her famous spaghetti sauce and she and my dad came for dinner tonight. The boys are so excited to spend time with Nana/Papa and they have really missed seeing them all the time since we got back from Colorado. We got spoiled with the amount of time together. We got to read lots of stories before bedtime, too and even made a little movie to send to Luca.

While Dee was laying down with the boys, I decided to wallpaper the bathroom. It wasn’t a huge job, it’s not perfect but I think it looks pretty darn cute. Next is the boys room…we’ve got a cool sports theme that’ll really pull the room together. Think that might take two of us to do, though so it may take awhile to finish that project.

Tomorrow is busy….getting forced air heating (yeah no more heating oil!) and Carlos has his first day of speech therapy. Yippee for both!

We had a great family day today….got up, relaxed and had some breakfast and then got the boys ready. We hopped in the car and went to Silverdale to get their pictures taken. They did great and we got some really good pictures of them together and also each separate. Now we wait til they come back.

Next we took them out to eat at Applebee’s where we did a mystery shopper lunch. They were pretty good and totally dug having corn dogs and fries for lunch. Next was off to Home Depot (Dee was happy) where we picked up some odds and ends. Carlos had a total meltdown but I took him outside until he calmed down, then came back in and finished shopping. Last was home to nap.

We’re working hard on tidying up the house, getting a little spring cleaning done early. It’s nice not to live in clutter!

Even as babies and toddlers…everyone eats an Oreo in their own way. It’s fascinating to me. Carlos immediately pulled his apart and ate the middle then chewed up the cookie and grinned a chocolately grin, Levi took little bites so he wouldn’t get his mouth dirty and Alice pulled her apart, ate the middle and then put the wafers on her tongue until they were soggy. Trey missed out on the dessert since he didn’t eat his dinner. Anyhow, thought I’d pass my findings along….
Oh and I went to the “evil empire” the other day (aka Walmart) and got some gross sugar powder (called “Magic Milk Mix) to put in the boy’s milk in attempts to get Carlos to ingest some dairy. Flavors are bubble gum and cotton candy, who drinks those flavors of milk? It worked, though, and Carlos drank 1/2 a glass. It won’t be an everyday thing but at least we know a way we can get some dairy in his diet. Mary was appauled at the whole idea of it but did a good job as the product model.

So I’ve been a shopping fool the last couple days…JC Penney’s has a gigantic sale on their clearance stuff. I got 27 items (some Adidas tshirts for Dee and I and the rest stuff for the boys) and spent 86.45 and saved…are you ready?….$358.09! For all you non-math types that’s almost 76%! So, we got some great new clothes for the boys and us so we’ll be super stylin! I can’t wait for Levi to go to school in his new shirt that says “Friends don’t let friends eat paste” 🙂

Carlos is going on an outing with Nana today to the Kid’s Museum while I take the other kids to playgroup for awhile. I am SO ready for Levi and Alice to be back in preschool….they are going nuts in the house (although we may go out today if it warms up a tad). We’ve played in the tunnel and built couch forts and tried to keep busy with inside stuff. Levi drew an awesome horse on his magnadoodle that he was very proud of!

Yesterday was long…..it was the Island Invitational wrestling tournament and I worked the computers for (I think) the 10th year. I took Levi with me this year, all but Nana taking him to his friend’s birthday party part of the morning. He did pretty well and before the tournament started he wrestled with some of the Bainbridge coaches out on the mats. He LOVED it and kept asking the rest of the day if he could wrestle. He did get to wrestle a little more after the tournament was over. Maybe he’ll be a wrestler, we’ll see.

Today we’ve been lazy, just hanging out in our pjs and watching the Seahawks play. Sometimes you just have to have those days. It feels nice.
